It is believed that hemorrhoids are a common complaint of adults and pregnant women. However, they can also occur in children. Be careful not to underestimate this problem. It is very rare in children, but it can occur even in children a few years old. It is important to know what can lead to hemorrhoids in order to prevent this problem in the future.

Where do children get hemorrhoids?

They are certainly not the result of a sedentary lifestyle due to the mobility of children. The occurrence of hemorrhoids in children is influenced by genetic factors and an incorrect diet that lacks fiber.

Symptoms – how to recognize hemorrhoids in a child?

The symptoms of hemorrhoids in children are practically the same as those in adults. The child may complain of increasing pain around the anus. This place is often itchy and burning. Signs that a child may have hemorrhoids are constipation and blood in the stool.

Treatment – what does it look like?

If your child is diagnosed with hemorrhoids, it is important to see a doctor. Home remedies for the treatment of this ailment are recommended mainly in adults. They should not be used in children. In addition, hemorrhoids may be a symptom of other diseases or complications that must be excluded during a visit to the doctor. At the first stage of treatment, compresses of ointments, gels, infusions and suppositories for hemorrhoids are applied to the changed places. A child’s diet should include large amounts of fiber, non-carbonated liquids, vegetables and fruits. The main goal of treating hemorrhoids in children is to improve bowel function. This allows you to reduce the pressure on the large intestine, which is the main reason for the formation of hemorrhoids. If the child is not active, you should change his habits so that physical activity, movement, gymnastics and effort prevail. A sedentary lifestyle – sitting in front of the TV or computer and lack of exercise are conducive to the formation of hemorrhoids.

Diet for a child:

  • encourage your child to drink plenty of water. This will stimulate the intestinal fiber to work
  • let’s replace chocolate breakfast cereal with healthy muesli with fruit
  • Let’s give up boiled vegetables – instead, let’s prepare a salad of fresh vegetables for your child
  • Let’s replace the juice from the carton with freshly squeezed at home. You can also buy this type of juice in stores – it’s worth reading the labels

Testicular varicose veins in children

Another ailment in children is varicose veins of the testicles in small boys. These are nodules that appear around the scrotum. They are the result of widening of the vessels of the flagellar plexus that collect blood from the testicles. The problem occurs in several-year-old boys, but mainly affects teenagers. If left untreated, it can even lead to infertility. Symptoms? The condition has no specific symptoms. There may be (but very rarely) a vague pain in the scrotum or a tingling sensation. However, they are mainly observed when diagnosing other ailments. Treatment is carried out by surgery, laparoscopy or embolization and sclerosis of the testicular vein.
