Help for Ukrainians struggling with a serious disease. Where to find her?

The refugees include people with various health problems, the neglect of which can cost their lives. It is worth remembering that refugees have the same rights to treatment, for example in hospitals, as insured Polish citizens. Patient organizations also prepared an offer of help for those fleeing the war in Ukraine. Basic information on this subject below.

It is worth noting that in most cases, the aid applies only to Ukrainian citizens who have a certificate issued by the Polish Border Guard or an imprint of the Polish Border Guard stamp in the travel document, confirming their legal stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland, after crossing the border from February 24, 2022, in connection with with an armed conflict on the territory of Ukraine.

For cancer patients

Many Polish centers and hospitals have declared assistance to refugees, incl. National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw, which runs an oncology helpline for Ukrainian-speaking people. At the number +48 22 546 20 00 information on cancer treatment and procedures can be obtained.

The Polish Society of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology has launched a helpline for doctors and parents from Ukraine (also in Ukrainian) regarding the treatment options for children in Poland. By calling the indicated numbers, you can also receive teleportation in the field of logistics related to the treatment of young patients in Poland. It organizes the collection of pens (all brands), blood glucose meters (preferably Accu-Chek Performa / Active and Contour Plus), blood glucose meter strips (corresponding to the brands of blood glucose meters), needles and punctures (Medtronic). Nowy Świat 39). Items are donated to aid institutions, doctors and diabetic activists.

Material gifts, i.e. glucose meter strips, pens, pen needles, glucose, glucagon, infusion sets for pumps, insulin tanks and other medical accessories needed by diabetics are sent to the Foundation’s address: Fundacja dla Dzieci z Cukrzycą ul. Help for Ukrainians struggling with epilepsy

Stress is one of the factors that may contribute to increased seizures (epilepsy), which is why a telephone number (+48 503 924 756) was launched, which can be called by Ukrainian citizens struggling with this disease. These people will benefit from medical advice, get immediate help and receive a prescription that will allow them to purchase the missing drugs.

When dialysis is needed

Patients with chronic kidney disease must receive life-saving treatments in three four-hour treatments a week, usually at dialysis centers close to where they live. DaVita Polska has announced its readiness to accept patients with kidney disease who are no longer able to receive care in their home country due to escalating violence.

For the disabled

PFRON, in cooperation with the Polish Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability, the Circle in Gdańsk launched a 503-hour support telephone dedicated to border services and staff at reception points accepting refugees from Ukraine – 703 974 24. Helpline employees provide advice on how to help a person declaring as disabled or having disability confirmed visually by an employee of border services or a reception desk. If there is a need for personal hygiene products or the necessary rehabilitation equipment, they will provide information on the competent services that can provide support in this regard. The helpline is open XNUMX hours a day, seven days a week. The service is free.
