The aid is declared by both governmental units and non-governmental organizations as well as private medical centers and offices. The list is extended by new items each day.

We were all moved by the war situation in our eastern neighbors. After spontaneous campaigns of collecting clothes and food, organizing accommodation for refugees coming to our country, the time has come for more organized medical and psychological help. Below we have compiled some useful addresses and telephone numbers for you.

At the same time, we make a reservation that this is not a complete list. It is worth getting acquainted with the information posted on the websites of the relevant local governments. For example, in Warsaw, on the website of the city hall there is a lot of useful information, also in Ukrainian, as well as contact details of organizations providing aid.

In the context of medical assistance, it is worth remembering that refugees, like insured Polish citizens, have the right to free treatment in facilities contracted with the National Health Fund. In the event of a sudden threat to life, call for help on 112.

First Contact Teleplatform

In addition, the Teleplatform of First Contact (TPK) launched by the Ministry of Health also operates in Poland: 800 137 200. At this number you can get medical advice outside the working hours of primary health care, that is: from Monday to Friday from 18.00 pm to 8.00 am the next day, on Saturdays and Sundays and other public holidays; from 8.00 to 8.00 the next day. Currently, the hotline is supported in Polish, English and Ukrainian.

You can use TPK in the following situations:

  1. sudden illness, outside primary health care hours,
  2. sudden deterioration of health, when there are no symptoms suggesting a state of immediate life-threatening, and the applied measures or over-the-counter drugs have not brought the expected improvement,
  3. when there is a fear that waiting for the opening of a health care clinic may have a significant negative impact on your health.

There are also a number of organizations, institutions and grassroots movements that offer medical assistance to refugees, for example:

  1. “Medics for Ukraine” group offers medical assistance to refugees from Ukraine who are already in Poland.
  2. The University Hospital in Krakow has opened cabinets «Aid for Ukraine». Applications to the following address: [email protected] can be sent in Ukrainian, , English and Polish. Among 13 thousand medics who organize this help are doctors of various specialties.
  3. Works too anti-violence line 720 720 020launched by its foundation Sexed.pl last year. Ukrainian speaking specialists are on duty at the phone.
  4. Lekarzedlaukrainy.pl is a medical platform by a Jagiellonian University student that connects doctors with refugees from Ukraine in need of help. Those fleeing the war can find a suitable specialist there and arrange a free visit.
  5. Also “Famous Doctor” and “Telemedi” joined forces to create together medical portal for people coming from Ukraine to Poland: www.znanylekarz.pl/dla-ukrainy. The result of their cooperation is a website written entirely in Ukrainian, where they will find a doctor or specialist and get help. Doctors communicate in Ukrainian and , and they provide consultations free of charge. Psychological support

Free psychological help for people from Ukraine and everyone in a mental health crisis is now offered by many state and private institutions. Crisis intervention centers operate throughout Poland, provide free help in crisis situations, also for people without insurance. Some of them are:

  1. W Children’s Helpline, which operates at the Ombudsman for Children, assistance for Ukrainian children and youth was launched. Since March, a psychologist who is fluent in Ukrainian is on duty at the telephone number 800 12 12 12.
  2. Nagle Sami Foundation launched support telephone 800 108 108, which is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 17.00–20.00, consultants speak Ukrainian, and Polish.
