The dystopian series “The Handmaid’s Tale” has won many fans. Therefore, it is not surprising that its creators – the MGM film studio – decided not to limit themselves only to the film product. Together with the wine producer Lot18, she decided to delight all his fans with a collection of wines inspired by its protagonists.
A line of three wines was released – two red and one white. Red wines are dedicated to the maids Fredova (Elisabeth Moss) and Glenova (Alexis Bledel), white – to the wife of Commander Fred Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski).
But, as they say, it was not there: the audience smashed the wine collection to smithereens. According to them, the very idea of alcoholic drinks discredits the feminist ideas of the series. “Here is everything I hate so much: wine, marketing, unbridled capitalism and an authoritarian patriarchy in which women act as property!“- such statements could be found on the net.
Due to the growing barrage of critics MGM and Lot18 canceled the delivery of the collection.
