Experts tell you how to protect yourself at the resort and bring the coveted tan from your trip.
We will tell you which sunscreens to take with you and how to choose the right ones in order to bring a healthy and beautiful tan from your vacation.
Elena Monakhova, a cosmetologist at the Tori cosmetology center, believes that SPF products should be used throughout the rest – this is necessary to prevent photoaging of the skin. When choosing products with SPF for a long stay, you need to choose several products, varying the degree of protection from 50 to 15, since the time spent in the sun will vary, and over time, the skin tone will also change. The SPF formula is simple: SPF 50 = 6 hours sun exposure, 30 = 4 hours, 15 = 1,5-2 hours.
Even if you do not go on vacation to the sea, but often go outside, then from April to October it is recommended to use a cream with an SPF factor of 30–35. You can not be afraid to use products with such a high protective factor – this is not much, this is normal. At the same time, it is not necessary that the sun protection factor is only in the day cream – it can be present in any other product (foundation, powder). But it is extremely important that you have SPF protection, even if you are in the city.
Another important nuance to keep in mind: for face and body, you need to use different sunscreens designed for each of these areas. The fact is that the skin on the face and body is different: there are much more sebaceous glands on the face, the network of blood vessels works differently, respectively, and the means used for each of these zones differ in the composition of the components. As for the décolleté area, a face cream can be used for this part.
How to sunbathe and choose sunscreen depending on the phototype
Phototype I
If you are the owner of light skin of the first phototype, which almost does not tan, but only turns red in the sun, use sunscreen with an SPF of 50 to 100 and avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
Phototype II
Those who usually tan well can be referred to the second phototype, and in the first three days of exposure to the sun, recommend products with SPF 30-50, and then you can switch to products with SPF 15. For a more even tan during the preparation period a week before the trip you can do body exfoliation and use a facial scrub. Further, while on vacation, do not forget to prepare your skin for the sun in the evening: coconut oil will help you (just do not apply it on your face), as well as avocado oil.
Phototype III
In case you suddenly happen to be the happy owner of the third phototype or are naturally dark-skinned, still use products with protective filters. The recommended level of protection is SPF 20-30, aimed at preventing skin dryness during tanning. Cosmetics used in the evening can be any, most importantly – moisturizing.
Tanning menu
Studies show that certain foods can enhance and prolong the tanning effect. These include fruits and vegetables with beta-carotene and vitamins C and E: carrots, peaches, grapes, watermelon, broccoli, asparagus, apricots, spinach and others. But remember – daily consumption of carrot juice or large amounts of oranges and peaches is undesirable, since these foods put a lot of stress on the kidneys and liver. It is better to add the necessary products in a metered dose: for example, on the first day, drink a glass of carrot juice, on the second day, eat a couple of peaches, on the third day – drink a glass of orange juice, and so on.
