Summer has come to Volgograd. And although in the first 2 weeks of June the thermometer does not rise too high, hot days have come. Woman’s Day asked the residents of Volgograd what to drink, how to dress and who to shift things to to cope with the heat.
Natalya Oreshkina, psychologist, consultant member of the All-Russian Professional Psychotherapeutic League:
– The first and foremost is water. Studies and experiments show that people who drink water in hot weather (little and often when they feel like it) feel much better than those who do not drink water during the day, or those who drink the famous recommended 2 liters. The second is to take into account your physiological characteristics. With the predominance of the influence of the sympathetic nervous system, people do not tolerate heat well, but they tolerate cold satisfactorily. At the same time, their limbs are always cold, but not wet. With the predominance of parasympathetic tone, on the contrary, they tolerate heat satisfactorily and poorly – cold. Parasympathetic people enjoy the heat, while sympathizers tend to air conditioners. If you are sympathetic, try to provide yourself with comfort, panama, make routes with cool rooms along the way, which you can go to for a while. Third. This is also for sympathizers. A can of drink from the refrigerator in the supermarket can help you recover quickly if you feel unbearably hot. Once this method saved me from fainting (well, or so I think). On the neck, from the back of the head, close to the surface there are pathways of temperature and pain sensitivity. I just took the can and put it on the back of my neck. Instant relief. Drivers do about the same, they put a wet scarf around their necks, like a collar. Long live summer, sun and water!
Olga Zhinzhikova, PR specialist, blogger:
– When the heat comes, the most difficult thing is to accept it. It’s easier further.
It’s very good to remember about a nasty windy winter morning, when filth is pouring down from above, it’s squelching from below, don’t understand what, and it blows out from all the cracks, and you scratch to work, all so sleepy and frozen … Brrrr… It helps.
It also helps to come to work so early, at about eight, and sit there under the conder until it stops, until seven in the evening. And to shoot in hellish heat by the power given to me by the position, to send anyone, “but not me, just not me!” The main thing here is to have a weighty argument and willpower at hand (an organizer will do). Because when the poor guys stand in the doorway and begin to resist, the problem can be solved only with a well-aimed blow to the forehead. Helps with heat too.
Hot green tea works surprisingly well. In critical situations – even from a sachet.
They also say that escape from the hen house to the sea or to the mountains helps well, but, alas, I can’t vouch for the effectiveness of the method, I haven’t tested it for a long time. Maybe they’re lying?
Natalia Sevastyanova, endocrinologist, nutritionist:
– Heat is the time to strengthen the defense in key positions, as the hot season tests the strength of even the strongest of us. Our weapons:
1. Pure water without gas is a must-have in any purse / purse / backpack (prevention of dehydration). We drink slowly, in small sips.
2. It’s all in the hat! We do not hesitate, we learn to wear hats. Perhaps the most creative and beautiful sunstroke protection ever!
3. Business is time, and fun is an hour. Compliance with the work and rest regimen will help to avoid a breakdown in adaptation and will play the role of an airbag when taking off upward thermometer readings!
4. In the midday heat, it is better not to leave the “safety territory”. During the active sun, try not to plan important things. This forces us to plan our day wisely and not ignore time management.
5. Try not to abuse split systems. If we deliberately create a temperature difference of more than 10 degrees between the street and the room, we are guaranteed to bring unnecessary problems.
Irina Mironova, image stylist:
“I’m saving myself from the heat, if it’s not too hot, by opening the windows. If it bakes strongly, I curtain the windows. I was lucky, the apartment is well fenced off from the sun’s rays. In the summer, my loved ones and I do not so much toil. I don’t like conditioned air. I try to generally avoid places where splits are too hot. The contrast from heat to cold and vice versa is generally harmful to the body. And personally, my skin peels off from the split and stings my eyes. Often I go to the shower to freshen up, spray on my face and body with sprays, drink cool mineral water or, conversely, hot tea with mint (according to the cooling method from Eastern people). Well, always our fan (in its role there may even be a simple notepad) and a changeable T-shirt – a way to be fresh if you run around in the heat all day on business and various events.
Anna Myltseva, host, event organizer, producer of large-scale events:
– At home – split system. Airing is obligatory at night. I close the windows in the apartment from the sun with blinds or curtains during the day. I always have a fan in my purse in the summer, as well as thermal water or a spray bottle with clean water. At work, there was once a personal USB fan: you plug it into your personal laptop and enjoy it. If possible, in summer, it is better to wear clothes only from natural fabrics – linen, cotton, etc.
Natalia Simonok, host of events:
– I am a very thermophilic person and the heat does not tire me, so I do not feel discomfort. And so in extreme heat I drink a lot of water and wear a hat.
Kira Ulanova, lawyer-manager:
– Personally, I prefer to eat less and drink more green tea, which removes toxins and gives more energy, because in the heat it is not enough. Despite the heat, I try to walk more than ride, at least in the evening. I wear light, light clothing.
Julia Bykova, sales coordinator:
– In hot weather, the main method of cooling is to consume a sufficient amount of liquid, especially cool non-carbonated water, for example, with lemon, or green tea. If it’s hot on a weekend, we try to get out into the outdoor pool, lie under the shade of trees and take a dip. If we can’t get out, we often take a cool shower at home. To prevent the apartment from getting too hot, we leave the windows open at night, and in the morning we lower the blinds.
Yulia Mikhailova, bank employee on maternity leave:
– First of all, water saves from the heat! Drink it in sufficient quantity. And a cool shower to help. In general, rinsing in the shower in the heat is the most useful and easy life hack! But it is better to avoid air conditioners to the maximum, especially if you are in the same room. Well, we close the curtains during the day so that the apartment does not get too hot.
Marina Vazhinskaya, choreographer:
– In the heat I save myself with water with lemon and mint. And also water procedures in the pool are of great help.
