The second meeting of experts as part of the XNUMXnd Patient Heart Forum organized by was devoted to cardiac arrhythmias (arrhythmias). The questions sent by the patients were answered by experts: prof. Anetta Undas, expert in the field of anticoagulant treatment, editor-in-chief of “Kardiologia Polska” and prof. Agnieszka Tycińska, member of the board of the European Association and Intensive Cardiac Therapy.
Heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias) are a condition characterized by a rapid, slow and irregular heartbeat. In some patients these disorders are asymptomatic, but in others they may be life-threatening.

The XNUMXnd Patient Heart Forum is organized by the Polish Cardiac Society. Can atrial fibrillation occur as a once in a lifetime incident? Anticoagulants used in atrial fibrillation may result in bleeding from the gums or nose, and is this a reason to stop using them? When do we increase the risk of such bleeding? And when taking anticoagulants, do we have to exclude certain foods from the diet and alcohol? These are examples of patient questions that the professor answered during the meeting.
The arrhythmia panel was led by prof. Przemysław Mitkowski, cardiologist, head Employee of Heart Electrotherapy at the Clinical Hospital of the Transfiguration, XNUMXst Department of Cardiology, Department of Cardiology, Medical University of Warsaw Karol Marcinkowski in Poznań, president-elect of the Polish Society of Cardiology.
