Healthy, tasty and good for everything! Discover the 6 benefits of fennel

Fennel, otherwise known as fennel, has remarkable healing properties. It is a rich source of vitamin C – eating one vegetable covers the daily requirement for this vitamin. Here are some reasons why you should include fennel in your diet.

  1. A low-calorie dose of vitamins – even a medium-sized piece of fennel contains a lot of fiber and also supplements the body’s daily need for iron, magnesium, potassium, vitamins A and B6. Moreover, the vegetable contains health-promoting essential oils. Thanks to the content of vitamin C, fennel is a source of antioxidants that delay the aging process and protect against diseases. And all this without worrying about the figure – its calorific value is only 73 calories.
  2. Perfect for culinary experiments – fennel is the basis of Spanish, Greek and Italian cuisine. No wonder, after all, it is grown in the regions of the Mediterranean Sea. We can easily find it in many Polish stores now. The growing season is from October to April, so it is best to buy it in autumn and winter. Another undoubted advantage of fennel is its XNUMX% edibility: you can eat not only its tuber, but also parsley, stems and seeds. Many people describe the taste of fennel as unique, sweet and slightly aniseed at the same time.
  3. Good for digestive problems – regular consumption of this vegetable prevents stomach problems. In pharmacies, fennel teas are also available, ideal for use in emergency situations: after overeating, with stomach pains or heartburn. Thanks to the high fiber content, fennel is recommended for people who have problems with constipation. It supports digestion, has a diastolic effect (that’s why it is worth using it for painful menstruation), relieves flatulence and indigestion.
  4. For the treatment of colds – both the seeds and the fresh fennel vegetable is a good remedy for seasonal infections. There are many uses of this plant in the treatment of colds: drink the infusion 3-4 times a day and at the same time use it to gargle, use fennel oil for inhalation (great for unblocking nasal congestion and sinuses), consume it also in case of prolonged cough (it has an expectorant effect) ) and initial sinus infections.
  5. It helps to take care of beauty – it is a great remedy for oily skin problems. Thanks to anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, it allows for faster healing of blemishes and reduces the secretion of sebum (and thus – the shine of the face). To get rid of acne problems, apply it externally, washing your face with a cotton pad soaked in fennel infusion. Used internally, in the form of a drink or vegetable, it prevents skin aging, as it contains many valuable antioxidants that prevent loss of firmness and wrinkles.
  6. It has anti-cancer properties – is literally a treasury of ingredients that prevent the formation of cancer, and at the same time many other serious diseases. The high content of antioxidants eliminates free radicals that cause inflammation in the body. The fiber content helps to reduce cholesterol, and the minerals and vitamins naturally reduce blood pressure and have a positive effect on the circulatory system.
