healthy meditation

It looks like meditation will soon be prescribed on a par with pills: American researchers have discovered its serious therapeutic effect in the fight against hypertension.

For 19 years, they observed 200 patients who practiced transcendental meditation according to the method developed in the 60s by the Indian Maharishi (Maharishi Mahesh Yogi). It turned out that among fans of meditation, mortality from cardiovascular diseases is reduced (compared to the control group) by 30%, and mortality from cancer – even by 49%! The authors of a study funded by the American National Institutes of Health (NIH) suggest that the reason is that deep relaxation (practiced twice a day for 15-20 minutes) reduces the production of stress hormones.
