Nuts, fruits and vegetables of exotic origin have Polish substitutes. We can eat healthy and at the same time prevent many diseases without spending dizzying sums.
Cancer is the plague of the XNUMXst century, no wonder that many of us, wanting to avoid the need to fight for life, follow the advice of dieticians and do not save on health. It turns out that you can save money, and it’s even worth it, just read a little to see the choice.
Goji berries
Strolling through well-stocked grocery stores, we can easily come across bags of dried goji berries. Due to the content of antioxidants, cranberries and goji berries prevent cancer. It is worth buying fresh cranberries, harvested from September to early November. Fruit growing in Poland is also worth eating because, by increasing the level of good cholesterol, they reduce the likelihood of heart attack, peptic ulcer disease, rheumatism, cataracts, caries, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Since they lose some of their nutritional value as a result of drying, it is best to freeze them for winter storage. Goji berry treats infertility and cranberry treats urinary tract infections.
Aloe juice
It stimulates metabolism, just like nettle, but unlike its dried we will pay at least PLN 20 for it.
Pecans and macadamia nuts
macadamia is the record holder in terms of good fats, while pecan is a source of beneficial antioxidants. Long-distance transport exposes them to loss of value, e.g. through rancidity of fat. We pay only a fraction of the price of exotic nuts for native nuts. We should buy them in shells that protect against rapid loss of properties.
Kale
Red cabbage and celery will successfully replace its beneficial properties. The green vegetable is rich in sulforaphane, which prevents the development of cancer, as well as carotenoids with a similar effect. The disadvantage is the high price – about PLN 20 per kilogram.
manuka honey
New Zealand delicacy. You won’t find anything as expensive on store shelves honey. Hardly anyone is ready to spend PLN 250 for a half-liter jar. Native honeys are poorer than it in properties that would match antibiotics, but we can enjoy their taste more often and act prophylactically. Nothing special is the anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal effect on the body, also confirmed in honey harvested from Polish fields.
Mexican sage, or chia seeds
An excellent substitute turns out to be flaxseed, which is up to ten times cheaper. Contents Omega-3 fatty acids corresponds to the amount prepared with the fish dish. Chia seeds will not benefit all of us due to the fact that they retain water and are richer in fiber by half than flaxseed. On the other hand, there are definitely more antioxidants called lignasin in Polish seeds. Lignasin stimulates the hormonal balance, while minimizing the likelihood of developing hormone-dependent breast cancer. Seed protects and rebuilds the mucous membrane of the digestive tract.
