Health on two wheels. Learn the basic benefits of cycling

The vast majority of Poles (about 70%) like to use the bicycle. However, we usually treat two-wheelers as a form of recreation from time to time. Unfortunately, we do not realize that this pleasant form of activity is extremely important for our health and has a beneficial effect on the functioning of our body.

Thanks to bicycle rides, we are healthier, energetic and ready to face the daily duties. We hope that the concern for our well-being and the need to take care of the body and figure will encourage you to regular bicycle training and join the largest cycling competition in Poland, which starts on June 1.

The condition and efficiency of the organism

Regular cycling activity keeps our body in good shape. Exercise on a bicycle supports the heart rate and increases lung capacity, which is effective in preventing severe diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. Consequently, cycling increases the efficiency of our body.

For the sake of a correct and shapely figure

Riding a two-wheeler strengthens the muscles of the thighs and calves, has a beneficial effect on the joints, does not burden the knees, and by stimulating the circulation, it prevents varicose veins and blood clots. Other parts of the body that work during cycling are the muscles of the buttocks, arms and abdomen. The bike is also good for the spine. It relieves pain and influences the shaping of a healthy figure and correct posture. As a safe form of physical activity, it is recommended by physiotherapists as an effective method of rehabilitation, also for people with injuries.

Balm for the soul

In a healthy body, healthy mind. It’s fair to say that cycling makes you happy! During activity on two wheels, the level of endorphins increases, which in turn has a positive effect on our well-being and improves our mood. Bicycle rides help to forget about problems, and an oxygenated brain copes with stress much easier. The quality of everyday sleep also improves and problems with insomnia disappear. Interestingly, regular cycling improves memory, learning and work efficiency, and the ability to make decisions efficiently!

Everything with limit

However, there is one basic condition! Every cyclist should adjust his activity and training intensity to his own physical conditions. You have to be realistic about the actual capabilities of our body. Beginner cyclists are advised to ride gently over shorter distances. Too much effort usually leads to muscle overload and unnecessary injuries. At the beginning of our cycling adventure, a half-hour ride 2-3 times a week is enough. Only with time will we learn to control our physical abilities.

A way to get rid of unnecessary kilograms

Of course, if we have greater aspirations and intention to reduce body weight, we should gradually increase the frequency and intensity of training. We start to burn unnecessary fat only after half an hour of training, while already during one hour of activity, we can burn 300 – 800 calories. Two-wheeler is even recommended for overweight people due to its safety and efficiency. Provided that we will approach the planning and organization of trainings wisely.

Regularly means effective

It is worth taking care of the regularity of bicycle training. Only regular cycling will bring the desired results. In this situation, mobile sports applications turn out to be reliable. They have many useful functions that help organize our activity. They are a tool that allows you to record and compare the workouts performed, their time, distance traveled, calories burned or average speed.

Training with the application

Which application to choose? The city of Bydgoszcz came out with an interesting offer of a free mobile application.
