When the sinuses are tired, often the first reaction is to reach for pharmacy specifics and painkillers. Why poison the body when we have natural and non-invasive methods of home treatment at hand? Using inhalations, herbs and rinsing the sinuses – it’s worth starting with!
Before you go to the doctor to cure sick sinuses, reach for herbs. It is recommended to use them in the form of tablets and inhalations. Herbal medicines have excellent anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and diastolic properties. Many of them are available in pharmacies without a prescription. To solve the problem of clogged sinuses, the best will be:
- Linden blossom – the mucous compounds contained in it have a protective, anti-inflammatory and soothing effect on respiratory diseases.
- Peppermint leaf – it is used in aromatherapy, has an anti-inflammatory, disinfecting and clearing effect on the sinuses. Using it makes breathing easier.
- thyme herb – drinking an infusion of this herb or using inhalation with the addition of thyme oil has excellent antispasmodic and antibacterial properties. It thins the residual secretion.
- Tricolor violet herb – seals blood vessels thanks to the content of rutoside. In addition, it has an anti-inflammatory and mucolytic effect because it contains saponins.
- Elderberry flower – protects the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, is antiviral, expectorant, strengthens immunity.
- Gentian root – perfectly strengthens the whole body and improves the functioning of the nasal mucosa.
- Chamomile basket – has an anti-inflammatory effect, supports the treatment of catarrh and sinuses, has antibacterial properties.
- Lavender flower – in the treatment of sinuses, steam inhalations with the use of lavender flower oil will be perfect. It has an antiseptic and bactericidal effect.
In addition to the use of the above-mentioned herbs, it is worth trying a home rinsing of the sinuses using a kit purchased at the pharmacy (also without a prescription). In order to avoid recurrence of the disease in the future, it is good to use prophylactic substances moisturizing the mucosa – glycerin and sea water spray. There are a few important rules to follow during treatment:
- Humidify the air in the rooms,
- do inhalations,
- Drink plenty of water to help thin the mucus
- Apply compresses on the forehead with heated table salt (wrapped in linen),
- visit salt caves,
- Add warming spices such as cinnamon and ginger to your tea
- Sleep in a position where your head is higher than your body.
