The atmospheric pressure in the capital has been hitting all records since last weekend. Even healthy people have difficulty getting out of bed, feel lethargic and constantly suffer from headaches. Forecasters, meanwhile, are scaring: such an anticyclone has come that the city seemed to be submerged.
We have been feeling unwell since October 22, and every day it gets worse. Normal atmospheric pressure for this month in the capital is considered to be 748 millimeters of mercury, and it has already increased to 771,3 mm Hg. Art., breaking the previously recorded record in 1987.
Horror stories immediately spread over the network, they say, the city seemed to have sunk to a depth of 200-300 meters. That’s bad for us, because the transformation into an amphibian is given with difficulty. Somewhere they write that Muscovites did not dive under the water, but rather fell into the ground and suffer from a lack of oxygen …
And how many ways of dealing with natural disasters have appeared. What they do not advise, basically all recommendations are aimed at food. Eat the garlic – and everything will pass, drink it with milk – it will become even easier.
The editorial staff of Woman’s Day decided to find out what is really happening and how to deal with it.
“Record values of atmospheric pressure were indeed recorded in Moscow,” says therapist, member of the Russian Society of Cardiology Denis Prokofiev… – But it is important to understand that the well-being of the population is influenced not only by the numbers themselves, but also by magnetic storms and a certain effect of the anticyclone, that is, this is not one factor, a whole complex. How does it affect people’s health? The most common complaint is an increase in blood pressure in both hypertensive patients and those who do not suffer from this disease. The normal work of the vessels is constriction and relaxation; with a certain dysfunction of the atmospheric front, this mechanism is disturbed. When the vessels are all the time narrowed, a hypertensive crisis sets in. “
What to do
- Anyone should be able to stop a hypertensive crisis. For this, it is worth keeping special preparations at home and at work.
- In all cases use glycine, 100 mg, – 4 tablets at once under the tongue.
- The applications nifedipine, 10 mg, i.e. one tablet, under the tongue. If after 30 minutes it does not help, add another tablet and wait half an hour again.
- Didn’t work, do you feel bad? Then put it under your tongue captopril, 25 mg, and again timed for half an hour.
- No effect again? Take a pill in the same way moxinidine, 0,4 mg, and if it doesn’t work, call an ambulance after 30 minutes.
- Do not try to quickly lower blood pressure and use all drugs at once, it is dangerous.
- If the pressure has dropped after the first tablet, the next ones are not needed.
- There are also non-drug ways to help yourself. For example, such a device as samozdrav, developed by a Russian academician. This is breathing simulator to lower blood pressure.
- But folk methods in the case of a hypertensive crisis are completely ineffective, so do not use cabbage leaves in vain and eat onions, there will be no miracle.
It is generally accepted that the value of blood pressure equal to 140/90 mm Hg. Art., measured at a doctor’s appointment, corresponds to a blood pressure equal to 130/80 mm Hg. Art. when measuring at home.
Optimal pressure is: systolic <120, diastolic <80.
Normal: systolic 120−129, diastolic 80−84.
High Normal: systolic 130−139, diastolic 85−89.
Arterial hypertension of the 1st degree: systolic 140−159, diastolic 90−99.
2th degree: systolic 160−179, diastolic 100−109.
3th degree: systolic> 180, diastolic> 110.
That is, contrary to popular belief, the pressure 139 on 89 – these are normally high rates, and not a sign of a hypertensive crisis.
Alas, the most common mistake of district doctors is that when a person comes to their appointment once and complains that at the moment he has high blood pressure, he is put on hypertension for life. And they are constantly treating her, not figuring out whether this is an isolated case, which only now requires relief, or is it still a chronic illness. That is why it is important to know the constant numbers of your blood pressure.
During a period of high atmospheric pressure, it is worth taking care of yourself and limiting physical and psycho-emotional stress. That is, give yourself 15-30 minutes of rest every hour.
It is worth excluding coffee, strong tea (any), dark chocolate, energy drinks from the diet. They all contain caffeine and increase blood pressure.
Limit salt intake to 5 g (1 teaspoon), it retains fluid, which leads to edema.
Stop taking sympathomimetics, including eye and nasal drops.
Give up smoking.
Drink plenty of plain water to keep the blood from thickening and circulating normally.
