Drinking alcohol on time is a very dangerous “game” that can end in a tragedy. In South Africa, a young man took part in a competition and drank a full bottle of 35 percent alcohol in his full gulp. He did not collect the win because he did not survive.
- The young man took part in a competition organized by a liquor store, in which for drinking a bottle of alcohol one could win the equivalent of PLN 56
- He completed the competition task in two minutes, then fell to the ground
- Despite being quickly rushed to a local hospital, the doctors could not help him and declared him dead. The police are dealing with the matter

Drinking large amounts of alcohol in a short period of time is very risky to your health
African sources have not yet given the official cause of death for the young man, but one hypothesis is that he will die from consuming a large dose of alcohol in a very short time. It is assumed that the lethal dose of alcohol in the blood is above 4 per mille, but in history there have been cases of people who managed to survive with nearly 14 or even more per mille.
Toxicologist Dr. Eryk Matuszkiewicz explained in an interview with Medonet that such cases may occur in people who deal with alcohol addiction.
—If someone tolerates such doses, they are addicted. If we did not develop tolerance, which is an integral feature of addiction, we would not be able to withstand this dose and there could be respiratory disturbances, choking, which would even cause cardiac arrest and death, the expert explained.
People who drink alcohol frequently may also complain of high blood pressure, which increases the risk of stroke and heart attack. Long-term alcohol consumption can also lead to cardiomyopathy – a disease caused by the weakening of the contractility of the heart muscle – which manifests itself in the enlargement of the heart muscle and degenerative changes in its fibers and a significant weakening of the strength of its contractions.
Do not forget about preventive examinations to check the condition of the circulatory system. You can buy a package of blood tests to monitor the work of the heart at Medonet Market.
