The 20-year-old could barely breathe when he was admitted to a Swiss hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with emphysema caused by a sudden increase in blood pressure. A young man in his 20s (175 cm and 60 kg) was admitted to a Swiss hospital due to severe shortness of breath and chest pain. As it turned out during the medical interview, the man suffered from a mild form of asthma and ADHD. The medics immediately began working on the diagnosis. Chest X-ray revealed pneumothorax, and CT scans of the chest and neck showed deep emphysema with subcutaneous emphysema.

It is negatively affected when air enters tissues and organs where it normally does not exist. It is usually caused by:
- rupture of the alveoli;
- perforation of the bronchus or esophagus;
- injuries to the chest, abdomen, neck or head;
- trauma to the pulmonary parenchyma;
- mechanical ventilation.
Doctors, however, wondered what had led to the increase in blood pressure and put a healthy person in such a life-threatening state. The reason for this was explained by the patient himself. It turned out that just before the onset of shortness of breath and pain while breathing, he was masturbating while lying in bed. And it was this excitement, along with the increase in blood pressure, that led the man to such a state.
