As the British NHS points out, the symptoms of the new coronavirus variants are very similar to other diseases such as colds and flu. However, among some people who tested positive for infection, there were also signs of the disease appearing on the skin. Sick patients reported as many as three different types of skin rashes. These were urticaria, chilblain and prickly heat.

Hives

Chilblain

If, after this time, the skin is still flecked with pimples, it is necessary to contact your primary care physician. Taking medications with paracetamol or ibuprofen can help relieve pain.

Prickly heat

Prickly heat in infection with variants BA.4 and BA.5 it is usually erythematous-vesicular or erythematous-papular. Most often it appears on the knees, elbows or the backs of the hands and feet. Occasionally, the blisters may be filled with fluid.

To effectively heal the skin of prickly heat, keep it cool by wearing thin cotton clothes, drinking plenty of fluids, and taking cool showers. The rash usually disappears after a few days.

Symptoms may last longer than expected

Typically, symptoms of infection with the BA.4 and BA.5 variants last about five days, after which they disappear completely. However, it happens that some people feel the effects of illness for several weeks or even months. Then we are dealing with the so-called long Covid. Its most common symptoms are:

  1. shortness of breath
  2. extreme fatigue
  3. chest pain or tightness
  4. problems with memory or concentration
  5. difficulty falling asleep
  6. heart palpitations
  7. dizziness
  8. arthralgia
  9. anxiety and depression
  10. tinnitus
  11. diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain
  12. fever, persistent cough and headaches
  13. changes in smell or taste
  14. rashes
