Happiness is available to everyone

We believe that diseases prevent us from feeling happy. But scientists at Princeton University (USA) argue that this is not so.

Even very serious diseases in themselves do not interfere with experiencing positive emotions. “We are able to adapt to our condition, and over time, the disease begins to affect mood less than everyday events,” says Jason Riis, one of the authors of the study. It was attended by patients in whom one kidney failed, and healthy people (a total of 98 people). It turned out that both of them experience positive emotions equally often. In addition, healthy people greatly underestimate the possibility of being happy, feeling life satisfaction during illness, while sick people, on the contrary, overestimate the happiness of healthy people.
