Hand peeling

The skin of the hands needs to be updated no less than the skin of the face and body. But this zone has a number of specific features that you need to know about before you start exfoliating. Details and cosmetics that may come in handy can be found in this article.

Features of peeling for the skin of the hands

The skin of the hands is thin, practically devoid of sebaceous glands and is constantly exposed to the sun and other environmental factors, which means it is subject to photoaging. We constantly do something with our hands, often wash them, but it is not possible to take care of them as carefully as the skin of the face. And peeling is one of the ways to help the skin of the hands look decent.

Operating principle

The purpose of peeling is to exfoliate the “old” cells, forcing the skin to produce new ones. Thanks to this procedure, you can get rid of problems such as dryness, roughness and even age spots – with a sufficiently deep effect.

Salt, sugar, coffee – natural abrasives that are always at hand

Features

Peeling really works when it comes to age-related skin changes. However, the skin of the hands requires a more delicate, gentle treatment. Therefore, medium and even deeper peels are usually not performed here.

Efficiency

Even a simple home peeling with a scrub makes the hands smooth and soft. But it must be carried out regularly, since the skin of the hands is prone to dryness, as it is constantly in contact with aggressive environmental factors.

What is peeling

Exfoliation is carried out in two main ways.

Chemical

In the price list of a clinic or beauty salon, you can find a chemical peeling procedure for the skin of the hands, but this is rather an exception to the rule. Such a procedure is prescribed only for obvious age-related changes – for example, age spots, when mechanical exfoliation is not enough. Usually in such cases, superficial acid peeling is carried out as a course of procedures.

Mechanical

Salon hand care, especially if it is a spa program, always involves mechanical peeling, in other words, scrubbing. The scrub will eliminate dead cells, prepare the skin for subsequent care, increasing its effectiveness. Therefore, after the scrub, a hand mask is necessarily applied. This procedure can be carried out at home.

Hand care starts with a bath

This procedure will not only make your skin smooth, but also give you pleasure.

Prepare

Make a hand bath with a few drops of your favorite essential oil or scented liquid soap. Water should be warm, comfortable temperature. Dip your hands in the water for literally half a minute. If you don’t have time, just wash your hands, but don’t dry them. The scrub is applied to damp skin.

Peeling

The main question is what means to exfoliate the skin of the hands, because special tools for this are rarely released. Alternatively, you can use:

  1. natural household abrasives (coffee grounds mixed with olive oil, sea salt, sugar);

  2. scrubs for the skin of the body or face.

Both options have a right to exist. The main thing – do not use products with hard abrasive particles, so as not to injure delicate skin. The composition welcomes oils and emollients.

Post-peel care

After exfoliating, apply a generous amount of cream to the skin of the hands, and then put on cotton gloves for a short time – this way you will provide your hands with the intensive nourishing care they need.

Professional peeling in the salon

In salon care, peeling is part of the ritual dedicated to hand care. It consists of several stages, including cleansing, massage, mask, protective cream.

Peeling softens the skin of the hands

As for chemical peeling, this is a rather rare procedure, but it is also in demand among those who are struggling with the effects of photoaging. A course of glycolic peeling can cope with this task, but only a cosmetologist has the right to prescribe it strictly according to indications.
