In Haiti, the number of victims of cholera increased over the weekend. As reported on Sunday evening by the Haitian Ministry of Health, the disease has already killed 19 people as of October 1250.

The number of people infected with cholera is also increasing. There are already almost 21 of them in Haiti. The greatest number of deaths from the epidemic – more than half – was recorded in the department of Artibonite. The epidemic began there.

The disease also has political and social consequences. Last week there were vehement protests in Haiti against the government’s inaction. Demonstrators also attacked the soldiers of the UN stabilization mission, accused them of bringing the disease from Nepal, and demanded an immediate departure from Haiti. (PAP)
