Hair extension professional helps women regain their confidence.
Christina Oliva, at the age of 30, managed to build a whole hairdressing empire. At the age of 18, she founded her own business, and is now preparing to open a salon in the heart of Manhattan. Her strong point is fake curls, and she has a lot of experience working with those who have lost their hair due to cancer. Christina creates special hairstyles for them, and every time the transformation turns out to be truly magical. You can get to know Christina, her clients and her work in the Goddess of Curls program on TLC. Christina shared the secrets of her work.
I think I realized this when I worked with the first cancer patient. This woman sat in a chair and cried, but those were tears of happiness because she had hair again. I realized that hair is very important for a woman’s self-esteem and self-confidence.
I make a living doing what I love, I’m lucky that I love my job. And when a sick person is in my chair, I have the opportunity to cheer up by simply extending his hair. When my work is completed, everything that they have gone through, all this suffering caused by illness, including cancer, is completely forgotten, because for the first time they see themselves in the mirror with long hair. For a long time, short hair was a reminder that they were sick. And when they grow their hair, they forget about their illness.
I worked in a store when I was 18 and met a woman who came to shop. I helped her and she had her own hair extension business. She took me under her wing and trained me. And then I started my own business.

The most common mistake is when a client makes a new haircut after hair extensions and the master cuts very roughly. Some stylists lack experience with hair extensions, and cutting them is incredibly difficult – with natural hair, the job is completely different. Hair extensions must be cut pointwise. In addition, fake curls should be dry so that they look natural after a haircut.
I would say that hair extensions in principle make the client more confident, even if it just adds volume. Hair is extended not only to increase length. This technique simply allows the client to return to the hairstyle that the client was used to, which he had before the illness, which, of course, adds confidence.
This is definitely one of the secrets. I think one of the biggest problems for many hairdressers is that they don’t know where to find good natural hair. And if I were thinking about the next business project, I would become a wholesale supplier of curls – I would create artificial curls for hairdressers around the world, because our market for natural hair is now the largest and is of the highest quality.
