Hair in great shape

Hair care: the right actions

Too much washing can unbalance the sebum, determining element of hair balance. Preserve their ecosystem by washing them only when necessary: two shampoos per week is a good average. Choose your shampoo carefully, it is the hair product that is used the most. Do not be afraid of those who foam little, they are often the most respectful. Avoid surfactants (cleaning agents) very foaming, strippers and irritants, such as SLS (Sodium Laureth Sulfate) or sulfates, as well as silicones, which suffocate the hair. In general, trust the touch of your hair to judge the quality of a shampoo or treatment, because hair is above all a tactile material. Avoid too hot water and finish your shampoo by rinsing with cool water (you can do it at the sink) which closes the scales and increases the shine. Nothing more invigorating! After shampooing, avoid brutal pulls – brushing, straightening, etc., dab them in a terry towel without rubbing -, then tie your towel in a turban, before letting them air dry. Use a detangling conditioner that helps prevent breakage. Apply it only on the lengths, not at the root. If your hair is flat, opt for sprays with aqueous textures without rinsing. Once a week minimum, moisturize them with an oil, a mask or a serum. Leave the treatment on overnight, the day before shampooing. Good hydration is one of the secrets of hair strength, elasticity and shine. Limit the use of styling or volumizing sprays, full of resins which often dry out the hair.

A color to boost them

Whatever their natural color, and even if you have no white hair to hide, coloring enlivens the hair with reflections, giving it body and light. Like make-up that embellishes, it reflects on the radiance of the complexion and gives intensity to the eyes. If you are new to the subject, prefer a mousse or gel texture that melts into the hair, permeates it evenly and above all does not run. The only contraindication to oxidation coloring: coloring henna. In this case, it will be necessary to wait for the complete regrowth of your hair. The first coloring requires an exposure time of 30 minutes, from root to tip. For the following ones, leave for 20 minutes in the roots, then 5 to 10 minutes on the lengths and ends. The right pace? Every four to six weeks. Regarding the choice of shade, the shade must be in harmony with your complexion and the color of your eyes. If your skin is dark, prefer warm highlights – golden, copper – which will highlight your complexion. Fair skin tones will opt for a cooler tone, that is to say ashy. The golden rule is to avoid any radical transformation and to stay close to its natural color. Generally choose a lighter tone, because “we tend to see ourselves darker. If you are light brown, for example, and choose medium brown, the result will not be happy, ”underlines Christophe Robin, colorist craftsman, consultant for L’Oréal Paris. Finally, a colored hair – and a fortiori a discolored hair – needs more care. On the one hand, because its structure has been modified, it is drier and more porous than another. On the other hand, to make the color last. Choose products for colored hair (from shampoo to mask), richer in nourishing active ingredients. If you use a shampoo for oily hair (plus detergent), your coloring may indeed not last more than two weeks.

Hair: cures to strengthen it

For many, entering fall means worsening hair loss. Important element to diagnose it: the amount of hair lost (up to 100 per day, there is no need to worry) and the duration (beyond one season, consult a dermatologist). An anti-hair loss treatment does not act on the fall itself, but on the regrowth. Much more cosmetic, fortifying cures no longer grease the hair, and even they promote styling. Take advantage of their application to provide a massage to your scalp, a true nourishing mother of your hair. The massage promotes the dynamism of the roots, stimulates circulation and oxygenation. Place the pads of your fingers apart slightly on your scalp. Use firm, circular pressure or back-and-forth movements to move your scalp. Your fingers should stay anchored where they sit. Move them, then start again elsewhere. Insist on the front of the head and the top of the skull, always tighter, while the back of the head – the area called “the crown” – is more flexible, which explains why it is more dense. . To have more strength in your hands, some scalps are as tight as a drum (!), Put your elbows on a table.
