Summer holidays: coloring is put to the test

Chlorine, seawater and UV rays, coloring is put to the test during the summer. The new home colorings enriched with oils – we are witnessing a real “oleomania” – give luminous reflections, while making the hair less porous. There are even specific dry hair. Vegetable oils cover the hair and compensate for the drying effects of coloring, while boosting the intensity of the color. Blond is more than ever in the spotlight. Do you want to prolong your sunny reflections? Try these jellies precisely dosed in lightening agents and chamomile extract, less “involving” than real coloring, which gradually lighten up to two tonal heights. They bring a boost to natural brown to blonde hair (uncolored). Another solution if your blonde has turned, corrective blonde treatments that use micronized blue pigments neutralizing yellow or orange reflections. Finally, more radical, bleaching creams that lighten up to six tones are for those who want to achieve an ultra light pure blonde.

What is a damaged hair?

It’s a hair weakened by drought (this is why “dry” and “damaged” are often associated), porous because it has many microcracks in its scales, so much more vulnerable to all attacks, whether climatic, chemical or thermal. It is the hair that suffers the most from carelessness and summer damage. Unstructured, dull and brittle, they lose their ability to reflect light and are as rough as horsehair. Oxidation of the hair, generated by light radiation, is a major cause of its loss of nutrition. Like the skin, the hair is overexposed to oxidative stress which alters its biological constituents. (lipids, proteins, keratin). Not having the same arsenal of defense as the skin, its whole edifice is weakened. Before considering anything else (coloring, smoothing …), you must start by offering it royal nutrition, showering it with restorative treatments that will restore its shine and softness, visually and tactilely. Hair care is primarily designed for dry, damaged hair. These are of course those who need it most. It is thanks to them that we are witnessing a real explosion of hair care in all distribution channels, and the implementation of “layering” rituals (superposition of treatments) as sophisticated as for the face. Your care program: nourish before or after shampooing, bathe with a sulfate-free, lipid-rich shampoo, and protect. For the most distressed manes, masks and oils are delicacies. Apply a small amount of mask to damp, towel-dried hair, kneading the lengths and ends well. If your hair is thin, leave it on for 3 minutes, if it is thick at least 10 minutes. In terms of oils, a new gesture is emerging: the pre-shampoo oil which prepares and protects the fiber of the shampoo, offering it a “nutritious immersion”. Favor the richest and most succulent active ingredients, such as vegetable oils (argan, shea, jojoba, roucou, copra, etc.), ceramides, iris butter, royal jelly, or vegetable keratin. Finish with the daily application of a day cream on the lengths and ends.

Flat, loose hair

Hair that lacks volume tends to lose bulk at the roots and become heavier along the lengths. These hair as fine as those of babies represent the second of our concerns and there, the first care is indeed the shampoo that can really transform them.. You can feel it immediately after rinsing, the hair is textured, it has body, you can feel more “material” under your fingers. Choose ultra-light washing formulas, devoid of silicones that weigh down. Important step: rinsing. Treat it well until your hair “creaks”, regains its bare touch and is free of all residue. On the care side, you may have had the impression until now that the less you did, the better. You may change your mind with the innovations of the fall. While it is true that hair lacking in density needs less detangling than dry hair, this does not mean that it should be broken! Conditioner, oil or leave-in treatment, now you can afford it all. The new generation volumizing balms, formulated without fat or conditioner, with thickening flax seeds and shine vinegar, really blew us away! Ditto for leave-in care using texturizing powders of mineral origin (clays, silicates, etc.). They offer a real “root lift” effect which gives hold. As for styling waters, they disentangle and facilitate styling, while increasing the diameter of the hair. Avoid masks, which are too heavy, conditioners of the quaternary ammonium type (Quaternium-80, to be tracked on the list of ingredients that must be mentioned on your case), the resins used in styling products to give hold, which are a hit with the hair and can promote their premature regreasing, as well as alcohol, very often present in styling products, which dries out the hair.
