Dada appeared in European art in the first quarter of the 200th century as a trend without directions, a trend ready to embrace any manifestation of avant-garde art. Dada declared the destruction of bourgeois values, anarchism and the overcoming of habits and conventions, the return of elemental art to the center of life, and later direct opposition to totalitarianism. It was founded in Switzerland by the poets Tristan Tzara and Hugo Ball. And the German artist and film director Hans Richter brought it to cinema. Published in Russian for the first time, Richter’s book is one of the main works on the theory and philosophy of Dadaism as a radical art. Richter analyzes in detail the branches of art that grew out of Dada in France, Germany, Switzerland and the USA (surrealism and expressionism in all areas of art), the publication has an extensive scientific commentary and XNUMX illustrations. And this book is also a living memory, a memoir of an active participant in the events, for whom dada was a huge part of life.
