Gynecologist’s soul cry: 11 things girls forget
Infertility due to panties and irritation from soap are not fictional stories, this is a reality that women who do not know how to properly maintain intimate hygiene admit.
Such banal, but such important things are sometimes not observed by female representatives and suffer serious consequences. Ilona Grigoryan, an obstetrician-gynecologist, reproductologist, aesthetic gynecologist of the CIDC network of clinics, spoke about what must be observed in intimate hygiene.
Over-sized underwear is the cause of infertility
Underwear should be made from natural materials, as it comes into contact with the most delicate area that requires gentle care. Wearing oversized underwear can lead to irritation, dysbiosis, gardnerelosis, vaginal candidiasis (thrush), infertility (due to stagnation of blood in the small pelvis, which can contribute to the replenishment of the uterus and appendages).
Daily wear of thong panties leads to the fact that bacteria from the intestines enter the vagina and cause various inflammatory diseases. If there is a need for a “holiday” to wear special underwear, then it is better to do it for a short period of time.
Soap is the enemy of the intimate zone
Soaps, shower gels, shampoos – all this cannot be used for the intimate area… Dryness, irritation, allergic reactions and other consequences will result from this hygiene. From flavored soaps and gels, the acid-base balance of the intimate zone is disturbed, which leads to an increase in sensitivity to infectious diseases, provokes the growth of bacteria and fungi, and causes a feeling of discomfort and dryness. Soap and shower gel have neutral or alkaline pH 6-7, and the genitals have an acidic environment of lactobacilli, which protect the body from pathogens. A healthy acid-base balance of the vagina is approximately 3,5-4,5 pN, therefore, a means for intimate hygiene must be chosen according to the limiting parameters. If you do not follow these recommendations, then the microflora of the vagina changes and health problems arise.
And remember – excessive cleansing can disrupt the natural bacterial flora of the vagina.
Proper care of the intimate area is an important condition for women’s health. In order not to harm him, you must follow certain rules “, – recommends a specialist of the network of clinics CIDK.
The sponge is evil
The washcloth can damage the delicate intimate area, so you should not use it and various sponges for intimate hygiene. Also, harmful bacteria often develop in sponges and washcloths; for prevention, treat them more often with disinfectant solutions and dry them well. But for the intimate area should not be used.
Washing technique
The vaginal flora is safe for the intestines, but the entry of intestinal flora into the vagina can lead to inflammatory diseases, so be careful not to carry bacteria from the anus into the genitals.
Special towel
For intimate hygiene, it is necessary to have a separate soft towel, because it is the towel that is a good “home” for bacteria. When using a towel, do not make sharp rubbing movements, otherwise you can injure the delicate area. It is important for a woman to have a separate towel only for this area. In no case should you use the one that applies to both the legs and other areas.
After-pool shower
It is important to take a thorough shower after a pool or splashing in the river and the sea, as water from the pool or polluted water from natural reservoirs can cause irritation. If bacteria get in, also you can provoke thrush.
Refusal of daily routines
It is panty liners that can cause pH imbalance and irritation. There are no “breathable pads” as they are mostly breathable and not sterile. According to the studies carried out, it was found that the air permeability of all samples is 0!
It is definitely worth changing the pad after 3-4 hours of wearing, since after the set time, harmful microorganisms can multiply on the surface, which are dangerous for the microflora of a woman.
Dangers of douching
It is douching that can do more harm than good. Irrigation of the vagina can disrupt the usual bacterial background. For example, kill lactobacilli, which are needed to maintain balance, and even introduce infection. Douching is used only as directed by a doctor.
You should be more careful about your intimate health, and this will avoid many problems.
Contraceptive drugs are prescribed by a doctor
You should not take contraceptive drugs on your own, as they are hormonal drugs. Each person is different, as well as his hormonal background, so the contraceptive drugs that fit your friends may not work for you. The composition of hormonal contraceptives includes various active components, and only the doctor selects the drug that is right for you. Only a doctor can give an appropriate recommendation after a preliminary comprehensive examination, take into account the presence of concomitant diseases, determine the absence of contraindications to taking one or another hormonal drug.
Regular visits to the gynecologist
Regular visits to the gynecologist are the key to your health. The frequency of visits may vary depending on age and sexual activity, but at least every six months. It must be remembered that various ailments and oncological diseases can manifest themselves over time and already in a severe form… It is worth visiting a doctor, even if nothing is bothering you at the moment.
Should cervical erosion be treated?
At the age of 23–27 years, girls often have ectopia of the columnar epithelium on the surface of the cervix. This is when the columnar epithelium lining the cervical canal comes out to the surface of the cervix. This physiological condition does not require treatment. But there are also erosive damages of the cervix, which must be treated, since these damages lead to the development of cancer. An extended colposcopy is used to assess the cervix. And only after a comprehensive examination by an obstetrician-gynecologist, a diagnosis will be made and, if necessary, treatment will be prescribed.
