Gynecological massage

Gynecological massage is a method of physiological effects that has a healing effect not only on the reproductive organs, but also on the entire body of a woman.

Gynecological massage is a method whose action is based on improving the circulation of lymph and blood circulation in the area of the organs of the female reproductive system. It is performed by a doctor or a qualified midwife. The patient must be under medical supervision.

Gynecological massage is performed for chronic inflammatory diseases of the internal genital organs, causing displacement of the uterus and its appendages, adhesive processes in the pelvic area, minor vaginal prolapse and relaxation of the pelvic floor muscles. It is contraindicated in the presence of tumors of the genitals, malignant neoplasms of any localization, inflammatory processes in the acute and subacute stages, pregnancy, varicose veins of the vagina, diseases of the bladder and stomach.

Massage is done one and a half hours after eating, on a gynecological chair. During the massage, the hand on one side is placed on the abdominal wall, the fingers of the other hand, previously lubricated with petroleum jelly, are inserted into the vagina. The massage is mainly carried out with the outer hand, the inner fingers lift the uterus. The patient is advised to lie on her stomach after the massage for approximately 10-15 minutes.

During the procedure, the woman should not feel pain. It is important to remember that the clitoris, the external opening of the urethra and the labia are the genital areas and squeezing these places with your fingers should be avoided.

Recently, non-medical methods of treatment are of particular interest. The effectiveness of massage is usually achieved by a complex effect on the body. The complex effect is very significant for the treatment of a large number of diseases of the female reproductive system.

Gynecological disorders are often provoked by diseases of other systems and organs of the body. Often, violations of female sexual functions are caused by abortion, hereditary factors, various inflammatory diseases and a sedentary lifestyle. Properly performed manipulation can affect the entire body of a woman, and not just the organs of the reproductive system.

History of use

Gynecological massage is not a new method, but a proven long-term medical practice. As a method of treatment, this type of massage was first described in 1861.

Until the 60s of the twentieth century, it was quite often and successfully used to treat women. Then, some time later, interest in this method waned. This is due to the rapid development of more modern, new medical and pharmacological technologies. However, in our time, some obstetrician-gynecologists still successfully practice this method of treatment, they find many positive effects from this simple and natural method of treatment.

Indications for conduction

Gynecological massage can be prescribed for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes. For the purpose of treatment, massage is performed for women with anomaly or hypoplasia of the uterus, in the presence of chronic inflammatory processes in the tubes, painful menstruation, amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), for the treatment of infertility in the treatment of menopausal syndrome and acquired frigidity.

For prevention, gynecological massage is used after surgical procedures, including laparoscopy and abortions, since massage is a great way to prevent swelling and adhesions. This procedure is especially effective in combination with physiotherapy.

Massage in gynecology is performed according to the following indications: a moderate degree of underdevelopment of the uterus, chronic inflammation of the uterus, or its incorrect position, postoperative adhesions, scars in the pelvic area, failure of the pelvic floor muscles, the initial form of genital prolapse. Using this method, it is possible to achieve improved blood flow in tissues and organs, increased muscle tone, normal position of the internal organs of the female reproductive system, improved bowel function, elimination of adhesions in the uterus and appendages.

Method of conducting

Massage is performed by a doctor with experience in gynecological practice, not earlier than 2 hours after eating with emptying of the intestines and bladder. The patient is placed on a gynecological chair or a hard sofa, in a place for a gynecological examination. The abdominal wall is lubricated with oil or talc is added. Made with two hands. The doctor inserts two fingers of the left hand into the vagina, and with the right hand circular movements are made on the surface of the abdominal wall, gradually pressing on the abdominal wall in the direction of the fingers of the left hand.

Massage is performed by the palmar surface of all three phalanges, and not by the fingertips. It includes the following methods: ironing, kneading, pressing and stretching. In the presence of scars and adhesions, they are mainly stretched, pushing the uterus to the side, raising and lowering it. The same is done with fixed uterine appendages.

The technique of holding and positioning the fingers of the left hand in the vagina depends directly on the indications for the procedure. Massage should not cause pain. The degree and strength of the impact during the massage are determined strictly individually, taking into account the indications and symptoms of the organs undergoing massage.

What does the patient need to know?

The procedure is carried out one and a half hours after eating. It is important that the bladder and intestines are emptied.

Massage will be carried out on a gynecological chair. You need to try to relax as much as possible and follow the doctor’s recommendations.

As a rule, a competent gynecologist is able to create the right psychological environment in which the patient can feel completely comfortable. This is a very important point for the effectiveness of such procedures. There should be no pain or discomfort during the procedure. At home, this method is not carried out; for its effectiveness, it must be performed by a qualified specialist.
