PSYchology

A new novel by a French writer, whose works are very popular for making films. Such is the peculiarity of his prose — extremely cinematic in spirit.

Based on the books of the 38-year-old French writer Musso, films are made, one of them, “After …” (Eksmo, 2012), was even awarded an award in France as “the best screen novel”. The new novel confirms his «script» ability to adjust the pace of the change of shots, as in a good movie. As a result, it is impossible to tear yourself away from a book, like from a screen, until you finish watching … you read it to the end. The story of Julette Beaumont, a young actress who came from France to New York to seek her fortune, turns into a detective, then turns into a mystical thriller, and ends … with a melodrama. But fascination is not the only virtue of the novel. It contains a sincere, albeit naive, attempt to look beyond the edge, to realize that it is necessary at some point to let go of the past. Parting with him does not mean forgetting — for Musso, who himself miraculously survived in a car accident, this thought is very important. He knows what he’s talking about.

Translated from French by Maria Rozhnova. Eksmo, 320 p.
