Gui Pi Wan

Main indications: insomnia, disturbing dreams.
In Chinese energy, this formula is used to tone Energy and Blood, tone the Spleen, nourish the Heart and calm the Spirit.
Associated symptoms : palpitations, anxiety, phobia, heavy and prolonged periods, loss of appetite, fatigue, headache, pale tongue (thin white coating)
Dosage
As this formula comes in different forms and concentrations, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. A tonic should be taken for at least one month. This can be taken long term.
Comments
Continuously turning and returning in his mind personal and family problems hurts the Spleen and the Heart: heavy and prolonged periods. At first, the excess of worries and worries affects the Spleen: loss of appetite and fatigue. A weak Spleen cannot hold the Blood. It reduces the production of Blood which becomes deficient and unable to nourish the Heart: palpitations. The ability to concentrate and memory decrease. The Spirit becomes disturbed: insomnia, disturbing dreams, anxiety, phobia. The emotional aspect can be more or less important in the whole syndrome. This formula, which emphasizes the Spleen, is very popular in traditional Chinese medicine.
History
The formula of this preparation is cited in the volume Ji Sheng Fan (Formulas to help life) written by famous doctor Yan Yong-He in 1253.
Research
There are two searches done in Japan. The first shows that taking Gui Pi Wan on a regular basis increases learning abilities in older mice.1 The second deals with the treatment of ten patients with thrombocytopenic purpura. Gui Pi Wan promotes the reduction of antibodies in this autoimmune disease.2
