In late spring, prepare cups or box for planting mint. When planting seeds, do not deeply deepen them. So the seedlings will grow at the same time. Mint is unpretentious – ordinary room conditions are suitable for growing it. The first year it grows slowly.
After the sprouts appear, thin them out – the distance between them should be at least 5 cm. Melissa loves light, so place the box with seedlings closer to the window. If the day is cloudy, point a lamp at the box – greenery responds well to artificial lighting.
Transfer the plant to a greenhouse after 40 days. Prepare the ground in advance, for this you need to do the following:
- dig up;
- get rid of weeds;
- fertilize.
To prevent the mint from dying, provide drainage from rubble or crushed bricks. This will protect the root system. The sprouts must be at least 20 cm, while their age is at least 35 days. For the culture to grow actively, water it with water – 2-3 times a week.
If you want to harvest lemon balm in winter, then plant it in a greenhouse at the end of summer. If the light from the sun is not enough, install additional lighting. The temperature in the greenhouse should be between 18 and 20 ° C. A sudden change in temperature will negatively affect the plant. The plant begins to bloom in July and ends in September.
