Seeds for growing strawberries can be soaked in a growth promoter

Find a sunny spot. The best precursors for this crop are legumes, onions, garlic, beets, carrots, and herbs. Do not plant strawberries after potatoes, peppers and nightshades. Neighborhood with raspberries is also undesirable.

There are 3 breeding methods:

  • mustache. After fruiting, babies grow in the culture, their roots need to be sprinkled with earth near the mother bush. In September, young rosettes need to be transplanted to a permanent growing site;
  • seeds. This method is used to propagate mustache-free remontant varieties of culture, for example, “Alensandrina”, “Yellow miracle”, “Baron Solemakher”.
  • By dividing the bush. The method is suitable for bean-free varieties. In the spring, large bushes need to be dug up, the rhizomes should be divided and planted in a new place.

When propagating by seed, you can collect the seeds yourself, but only if you do not have a hybrid strawberry variety, otherwise the maternal traits will be lost.

Sowing:

  1. Pour a soil mixture into the container, which consists of sand, garden soil and humus in a ratio of 3: 1: 1. Pre-disinfect the soil with a solution of potassium permanganate or heat it in the oven. You can sow strawberries in peat tablets.
  2. Press the seeds into the soil and spray with a spray bottle. Cover the container with plastic wrap.
  3. Put it in the refrigerator for 3 days, and then move it to a sunny windowsill. Maintain the air temperature at 18-20 ° C. When the soil surface dries up, spray it with a spray bottle.

Seedlings will appear in a month. Remove the film, lower the air temperature to 15-18˚С. Dive seedlings after three true leaves appear.

Seedlings can be planted outdoors in mid-April, late summer or early autumn. These are the most favorable periods for rooting. In the northern regions, spring planting should be preferred, so start growing seedlings in January.

Renew your strawberry plantings every 4-5 years. For young shrubs, choose new areas with fertile soil. Growing strawberries in one place for more than 5 years is not worth it, the culture will start to hurt.

When growing strawberries, keep in mind that the seedlings are tender and can die at any stage. Only by following all the recommendations, you can grow this varietal crop in the beds.
