Grouse imperial: outdoor care
The imperial variety is a striking representative of hazel grouse. Large flowers are located at the top of a long stem. They are yellow, orange or red in color. In the spring, he begins to bloom one of the first, along with tulips. In order for it to become a real decoration of the garden, it is necessary to provide it with the necessary conditions.

You need to take care of the flower from the very moment of planting the bulbs. They need to be watered if there is no rain in the fall, and this should be continued until the frost. Despite the fact that the hazel grouse is frost-hardy, the preparation of its bulbs for wintering is a necessary condition. The soil is covered with mulch, for which grass, leaves, needles or special covering material can be used.

The next stage of plant care begins with the spring emergence of seedlings:
- first you need to remove all the shelter that was left after the winter. We do this carefully so as not to break the sprouts: they are very fragile. It’s not scary if frosts are still observed at night. Bulbs and sprouts are not afraid of them and easily tolerate temperatures down to –5 ° C. But they need sunlight and warmth for growth and rapid formation. When harvesting, the soil must remain intact, otherwise there is a great risk of damaging the roots, which could rise to the surface during the winter;
- when the period of frost is over and warm weather is established, fertilizers are applied to the soil. The mixture can be prepared independently: for 10 liters of humus, take 1 tbsp. l. nitrophosphate and a preparation for flowering plants. With this composition we cover the soil with a layer of 3 cm, no more;
- the following dressings are carried out during the beginning of flowering. Potash fertilizers are suitable here, and wood ash will also be useful;
- when the hazel grouse fades, you need to add superphosphate or potassium sulfate to the soil, which will provide high-quality planting material for the next year.
There are times when, even with proper care and timely fertilization, the plant does not bloom.

The following tips will help ensure proper flower development and good growth:
- choose a bright, sunny place for it. But at the same time, there should be no drafts and no north wind in this place;
- the plant needs oxygen, so the soil should be loose and fertile. It is necessary to organize good drainage to drain excess water;
- it is not necessary to loosen the soil – there is a great risk of damaging the roots. It is better to do mulching, which will retain moisture and protect against crusting on the ground.
With proper care, the hazel grouse will thank you with gorgeous flowers. It is often used in landscaping due to its unusual exotic appearance.
