Grouse imperial: landing

Grouse imperial: landing

During flowering, the imperial hazel grouse looks gorgeous and very exotic. Red, orange or yellow flowers flaunt on a high stem. They are shaped like bells drooping down.

Planting imperial hazel grouse

There are two ways to plant this plant:

  • seeds. This method is commonly used commercially to produce large quantities of bulbs. Flowering in such plants will begin only after 7 years;
  • bulbs. This is the most convenient breeding method.

Planting material can be purchased at the store or collected when transplanting babies from adult bulbs.

You need to prepare in advance for planting the imperial hazel grouse

After the plant has bloomed, and its stem begins to fade, you need to dig up the bulbs. If you postpone this business for a long time, they can rot and become unusable. Now you need to prepare them for the next landing:

  • bulbs removed from the ground should be inspected for damage and rot. Only healthy specimens are suitable for planting;
  • we remove old roots. The remainder of the stem does not need to be removed;
  • we wash them in a warm solution of potassium permanganate, dry.

We store the prepared material for planting in a warm and dry place.

When to plant imperial hazel grouse

At the end of August, the time comes to plant flowers in your flower beds. By this time, they should already acquire new roots. The landing site must be prepared in advance:

  • we dig holes with sides of 40 cm and a depth of 30 cm. Mix the resulting soil with compost;
  • 2 weeks after that, sprinkle the bottom of the pit with sand, stick a peg in the middle. Its length must be calculated so that it protrudes 50 cm above ground level;
  • lay out the bulbs next to the stakes, cover with the previously prepared soil.

Watering is carried out regularly if the autumn was not rainy. For the winter, we cover the flower bed with needles, leaves or grass. This will save the bulbs from frost. You can use special covering materials.

After wintering, the shelter must be removed. We do it in early spring, when the temperature no longer drops below –5 ° C. The plant at this time needs sunlight and air. Young sprouts are very fragile, so you need to clean the mulch carefully so as not to damage them.

It is not recommended to loosen the soil – the roots may be close to the surface. During flowering, potash fertilizers are applied to the soil and mulched again. This will retain moisture and protect it from crusting on the surface.
