Grinder malt mill

To make homemade beer and kvass, you need ground malt. It is difficult to find ground grains on the market, so the malt mill is becoming an important tool in the production of your favorite drinks. Newbies who are just getting started with home brewing may not always know the best way to grind malt.

Mill for malt from an old grinder

Malt is the germinated and then hot air dried grains of barley, wheat, oats or corn. Most often, you can buy it unmilled on sale. Without a special mill, an inexperienced brewer decides to grind the grain with a mechanical grinder.

A good malt mill should not grind malt into flour

Relying on an old grinder as a suitable malt grinder is very disappointing.

A mechanical meat grinder grinds grains with great difficulty. On an electrical device, it is better not to do this at all, since the motor can break. Some craftsmen adapt a drill instead of a handle, making a mechanical meat grinder electric with a powerful motor. This solves the problem of difficult grinding, but its quality is poor. Some grains turn into flour, which gives a cloudy sediment in the finished drink.

To grind grain, it is better to purchase a millstone malt crusher. Outwardly, it looks like a normal meat grinder, but the malt grinds exactly as needed for brewing, leaving the shells of the grain intact and grinding the middle.

A Chinese-made manual crusher with grinding degree control will cost about 2400 rubles.

Having bought a crusher and resins on it the first kilogram of grain, you will pump up your muscles well. To facilitate the task of grinding malt, craftsmen have adapted an ordinary electric screwdriver or drill.

To do this, an M8 bolt with a sawn head is inserted into the threaded hole where the handle should be located. The diameter of the bolt must match the hole of the clamp, which is intended for screwdriver tips. The screwdriver connects to the crusher with a bolt – the homemade electric crusher is ready. Now you can turn on the screwdriver and grind the malt quickly and efficiently.

Using a conventional grinder for grinding is inconvenient and ineffective; you need to buy a manual malt grinder. To facilitate the process of manual grinding of malt on a crusher, use an electric screwdriver or drill and a long bolt without a cap.
