The continuous use
Nutritionists assure that green smoothies are a great way to get a dose of vitamins in the most digestible form, as well as a unique component – chlorophyll, which is found only in greens. But we so rarely eat green leafy vegetables – at the most we add a couple of lettuce leaves to the main dish, decorate hot with parsley, or cover a sprig of dill in soup. The body will receive much more chlorophyll if you train yourself to drink a small amount of green smoothie on a regular basis (one glass a day is enough). In a sense, smoothies are much healthier than freshly squeezed juices, because they are less concentrated, and at the same time contain fiber, which is important for our digestive system.
Contraindications
Serious contraindications for the regular intake of smoothies made from raw vegetables and fruits are any acute diseases of the gastrointestinal tract – gastritis, colitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, as well as pregnancy and breastfeeding. You should also be careful with those who suffer from chronic kidney disease. Those who rarely ate raw vegetables and herbs before, after the first glasses of green smoothies, may feel the symptoms of diarrhea. In this case, before starting a detox course, you should gradually accustom your body to greenery.
All in moderation
Do not jump on green smoothies as a panacea for all ills, start with small portions, and for any symptoms of discomfort, stop taking. Alternate and mix leafy vegetables to avoid eating too many in one go. After all, for example, such a useful spinach, in case of an overdose, can cause kidney stones. In no case should you switch to green smoothies as the main way of eating: eat them once, maximum twice a day, without replacing the main meals, and if you want to arrange a fasting day “on the green”, do it no more than once a day. week. Nutritionist’s recommendation to consume a smoothie of greens and fruits on an empty stomach, about half an hour before breakfast. If you want to drink this drink in the afternoon, try not to add fruit to it, because they contain a large amount of sugar. For the same reason, it is not recommended to consume green smoothies with fruits for diabetics. Well, do not forget that with any detox program, you should exclude confectionery, fried and fatty foods from the diet, and start moving and walking more in the fresh air.
What to grind?
The main ingredients of any green detox cocktail are a bunch of greens, sweet fruit, water. Desirably, the ratio of greens to fruit in a glass is about 60/40. Add about half a cup of water to the blender, determining the thickness of the finished drink to your liking. Otherwise, you can show your imagination and make a delicious “breakfast” from literally any edible leaves and fruits that you find in the refrigerator or in the garden. For freshness, you can add ice cubes to the blender instead of water, for satiety, add nut milk. Chia seeds, sesame seeds, or pumpkin seeds will also work well with greens. It is better to choose small fruits or vegetables for a cocktail, because the large size of the fruit indicates an increased content of starch in it, as well as fertilizers in the soil. Pay attention to the ripeness of the fruit: they should be ripe enough, but not wilted. During the summer months, you can collect young nettles, dandelion or dandelion leaves from the forest. But when collecting wild plants, be careful not to pick poisonous grass with nettles and do not collect greens near roads.
