Green Baboon (Green Baboon) is the first Russian premium gin. The brand belongs to the Beluga Group, one of the largest producers and importers of alcohol in the country. The company positions the product as a Moscow civilized gin, and the daring and bright design attracts the attention of buyers. The drink is produced on the basis of vegetable raw materials, harvested by hand in different parts of Russia.
Historical information
Beluga Group is at the top of the rating of Russian spirits producers. A significant part of the brand portfolio is vodka, in 1999 its share in the assortment reached 90%. Over the following years, the product line was supplemented by new types of Russian and foreign alcohol: rum, whiskey, tequila and cognac. Recently, the company has begun producing wines at its own winery “Manor Golubitskoye” on the Taman Peninsula.
The Green Baboon brand appeared in 2018. It was decided to produce the first Russian premium gin at one of the company’s six production sites – the Georgievsk plant, which is located in Krasnoznamensk, Moscow Region. Beluga Group acquired the company in 2007. Subsequently, a large-scale reconstruction of the plant was carried out: a modern blending shop was equipped, a new bottling line was launched, and the warehouse area was expanded.
Gin Green Baboon was created according to the author’s recipe of Beluga Group technologists. It contains aromatic spirits infused with 15 herbal ingredients, including juniper berries, lemon peel, peppermint, lemon balm, elderberry and dill. The original component is Iceland moss. This type of lichen has long been used by the peoples of the North as a spice and seasoning for various dishes. For the production of the drink, the company installed a new copper alambik at the plant, made in Germany on a special order.
The design of the new brand was developed by designer Denis Kalinin. The main character of the concept is a green baboon, made in bright and rich colors. The inscriptions and drawings stand out effectively on a black background. An intricate and non-standard visual solution makes the product noticeable on the shelves of Russian stores.
