Morphological characteristics of culture:
- Plant height – 30-50 cm.

- The flowers are simple, small, white, consist of four deeply dissected petals. Collected in dense racemose inflorescences. The core is formed by elliptical pods, during flowering they are lemon-colored, at the time of opening they become dark brown.
- The seeds are small, with a tuberculate surface, equipped with lionfish. Scatter from the mother plant at a distance of up to 12 m.
They are harvested before frost, because they do not ripen at the same time.
Where grows
Hiccup is a ubiquitous plant. The main concentrations of the species are observed in the European regions, Belarus, Ukraine, the North Caucasus throughout the Central and Middle strip, in the Far East, Siberia and the Urals. The gray yarrow is less common in Central Asia.
Hiccup gray-green is a weed that grows on almost any soil. Vegetation culture does not depend on lighting and humidity. The plant is found along roadsides, in forest-steppes, in meadows, edges, wastelands, sandy embankments. Settles near pastures, farms. Seeds are carried by the wind, transported along with hay. A gray-green hiccup settles next to the cultivated lands of settlements. It can grow singly or form dense thickets.
Chemical composition
In each part of the gray-green hiccup, the chemicals differ in composition. The root system contains:
- coumarin – 2%;
- tannin compounds – 1,5%;
- acids of organic origin – 0,15%;
- alkaloids – 96%.
In the aerial part of the gray yarrow, there are only 13% of alkaloids, the rest of the composition is occupied by acids, coumarins and tannins in approximately the same amount. Seeds contain fatty oils – 28,2%.
Classification
Hiccup gray-green is a flowering plant of the Dicotyledonous class. It is a biennial herbaceous shrub of the order Brassicaceae or Brassicaceae. Belongs to the Cabbage family, genus Ikotnik. The species name is grey-green hiccup. It has medicinal properties, so the herb and rhizomes are used in alternative medicine recipes. Seed oil is used for technical purposes.
Medicinal properties
The main active ingredient are alkaloids and tannins. Reception of decoctions and infusions based on gray-green hiccups contributes to:
- decrease in blood pressure;
- normalization of digestion, elimination of diarrhea. Effective for gastritis and stomach ulcers;
- relieve tension in the nervous system. Acts as a sedative;
- headache reduction;
- vasodilation. Helps with asthma, choking, hiccups, coughing;
- elimination of skin diseases.
The use of gray-green hiccups is indicated for postpartum hemorrhage. It is also used for diseases of the female genital organs and urinary system.
Application
For medicinal purposes, the culture is used only in traditional medicine. Seedlings are used in landscape design, they are planted as honey plants in areas with poor flora, for example, in the steppe zone.
In medicine
In official medicine, gray-green hiccups are not used. Experimental studies on animals have shown that the plant has a hypotonic effect, but it is also toxic. For example, eating this herb along with hay can lead to the death of horses.

Grey-green hiccup seed oil is used as a lubricant and as an anti-corrosion agent:
- To improve the friction of the undercarriage of the sewing machine.
- Process rusted door hinges, keyholes.
- Used to lubricate mechanical parts in household and electronic appliances.
Natural raw materials from green hiccups do not change viscosity with temperature changes and are gentle on parts.
The design
Gray hiccups have not found wide application in ornamental gardening. It is considered a weed and removed from the site. The plant is used only for landscaping wastelands of the industrial zone of cities. Planted around apiaries as a honey plant.
He pushes them out of the area. The hiccup gray-green when dried retains its shape, color of flowers and above-ground mass, therefore it is ideal for a herbarium.
