Grape Teacher: variety
The table grape “Teacher”, the full name of which is “In memory of the teacher”, was bred by the breeder E.G. Pavlovsky not so long ago. It is still in the testing phase, but professionals are already ready to classify it as one of the 10 best hybrids.
Grapes “In memory of the teacher”
Appeared when crossing “Talisman” and “Cardinal”. From his successors he got an early ripening, nutmeg aroma and an attractive presentation.
Harvest is ready in late July – early August. The berries ripen together for 5 days. If you wait until the beginning of September with the collection, they will gain sugar content up to 18-20%. Their taste becomes nutmeg when fully ripe. When overripe, the grapes turn into raisins.
Features of grapes:
- large bright red oval berries with a purple tint;
- pleasant sweet taste with a faint nutmeg aroma;
- berry weight: 10-15 g, sometimes up to 20 g;
- brush density: medium loose;
- brush weight: from 0,5 kg to 1 kg and more;
- brush length: up to 40 cm;
- ripening period: early ripening – 95-105 days;
- pulp: juicy, fleshy;
- skin: dense;
- frost resistance: up to -23 degrees;
- flowers are bisexual.
The grapes are resistant to wet weather. This means that in rainy weather after a dry summer, it will not crumble and crack.
The Uchitel grape variety does not need special care. If certain conditions are met, you can get a high yield for personal use and sales.
Plant care includes:
- Pruning. Recommended to be performed 2 times a year. In spring pruning, a frozen or damaged vine is removed, leaving about 7 eyes from the root. In the fall, shoots are also cut off for better wintering of the plant. In the summer, extra leaves are removed to increase the yield.
- Watering. This grape loves water. Watered with a drop method or once a week about 10 liters under each bush.
- Chemical processing. It is necessary to treat the vine with fungicides up to 5 times. You can use copper sulfate.
- Shelter. In autumn, the vine is removed from the supports, sprayed with copper sulfate and covered with leaves, sawdust or straw. Although the cultivar is frost-hardy, it is very sensitive to spring frosts, during which the eyes can die on the branches.
Propagated by cuttings: own or grafted. They all take root well and grow without any peculiarities.
The grape variety “In Memory of the Teacher” can be used directly for food, for making wines, compotes, and tinctures. With proper care, yields will always be high.
