Gorenje dishwasher errors: how to fix

This manual is designed to help you find breakdowns and solve problems related to the breakdown of Gorenje dishwashers.

It often happens that an error on the PMM display appears due to a breakdown of some part, and its solution requires repair, and not just entering the service test, which is carried out by the masters during the initial diagnosis.

Next, we will look at the main errors of Gorenje dishwashers and give brief comments that will help in troubleshooting, indicated by a particular code.

How to decipher fault codes dishwashers “Gorenie”

First, let’s look at how errors are displayed on models with an LED panel and LCD displays. Depending on the model of the dishwasher, you will have to decipher what the alphanumeric code or a certain combination of light bulbs means.

Meanings of error codes and recommendations for troubleshooting Gorenje

Below we list the designations of breakdown codes that the user may encounter when operating the Gorenie dishwasher. In the tables below, the reasons are presented in the form of a rating, starting from the problem with the highest probability and ending with the least.

E1 – actuation of the leakage sensor and detection of water in the container-sump

Appears if the float switch of the “Anti-leakage” system is closed for more than 3 minutes, if water seeps into the sump. In this case, the pump will work until the contact of the element opens.

CauseHow to fix

Water has entered the sump due to a leak in the tank from the Aquastop system hose.

The internal components of the case can also leak – a pump, a recirculation pump, etc.; connecting pipes.

Drain the sump to open the container full sensor contact. This is followed by a restart of the dishwasher, to check and find the leak.

The leakage is eliminated, and the machine can be used.

Fill sensor stuck. It is necessary to open the sensor, returning it to its working position.
The overflow sensor is broken. The sensor needs to be replaced and the dishwasher needs to be restarted.
Breaks in the wiring. It is necessary to check the wiring, connectors and contacts of the leakage sensor, the system board. Damaged sections of wiring require maintenance.
Breakdown of the control unit.

A failure in the operation of the electronic board is obvious if none of the four breakdowns listed above has been confirmed.

How to reboot the machine to determine module failure:

start the dishwasher

select the washing mode;

close the loading hatch;

If after 3 minutes or less the PMM shows the error code E1, then the problem is still in the unit and it needs to be replaced.

E2 – the level sensor of the Burning dishwasher has worked

The system signals an E2 error if the water level has crossed a certain mark and an overflow is detected. The Burning dishwasher stops the user-defined program, starts the pump to drain the water, and displays an error on the display (or the indicators flash).

Important! To immediately eliminate the failure of the control board, you need to carry out the following check:

  1. Remove the side wall and check if the sump is full (the float may have worked).
  2. Drain the dishwasher by emptying the tank.
  3. Turn off the PMM, disconnect the blue wire from the pressure switch connector.
  4. Turn on the machine.
  5. Turn on program number 1.
  6. After starting the program, the following situations may occur: 1. Drain will start. This will mean that the electronics correctly identified the signal and worked, which means that the control unit is working. 6.2. PMM will start pouring water into the system. This means that the electronic system misinterpreted the signal, the control unit is out of order and needs to be replaced.
Causes of errorHow to fix the problem
Incorrect installation of the pressure hose to the level switch. The rubber hose needs to be checked: it may have breaks or breaks. If there are breaks in the hose, there will be a loss of pressure, which means that the element will not be able to perform its functions.
Water has entered the pressure hose to the level switch. In this case, you need to disconnect the hose from the sensor and inspect if there is water in it. If there is, the part must be replaced with a new one.
The level switch has failed.

After emptying the dishwasher tank, check the operation of the pressure switch, use an ohmmeter.

If the relay needs to be changed, install a new part.

Damaged or clogged wash pump.

Select a mode and turn it on. Make sure the pump delivers water evenly without creating bubbles.

If the water supply is intermittent, you need to inspect the pump hose that passes through the sump – there may be blockages in it.

If the problem is still not solved, the part needs to be changed.

The intake valve has exceeded the water intake rate – the rarest cause of this error.

The repair consists of closing the water valve to regulate the pressure of the water flow. After that, restart the device several times to make sure the problem is solved.

If the code E2 is lit again, then the intake valve will have to be replaced.

E3 – no heating

Warning lights or an error code are lit on the user panel when the water is heated too slowly – less than one and a half degrees in 20 minutes.

CausesHow to fix
Operation of the thermal fuse of the heater (if such is provided in the design).

Using a tester, measure the resistance of the fuse. If “0” is lit on the device screen, it means “closed”, there is no operation. If the measurements report: “open”, then the fuse has worked to protect the heating element from overheating and burnout.

In the latter case, the tripping of the thermal fuse is due to one of two possible reasons:

1. Incorrect position of the thermistor.

2. The washing pump is deformed.

TEN broke.

The heater should be tested using an ohmmeter. Measure the resistance by attaching the probes of the device to the contacts.

Normal values are within 25 ohms (at room temperature of 20 degrees). If it shows a “break” on the measuring device, then the heating element fails and needs to be replaced.

Incorrect thermostat setting.Check the correct installation of the thermistor by adjusting it in the socket. Replace if necessary.
The integrity of the wiring is broken.

Carry out wiring maintenance by checking the integrity of the connections on the parts of the dishwasher and its control module.

Use a tester: measure the resistance by applying the probes to the board connectors. Find damaged areas and repair them.

The impeller (sprinkler) has stopped rotating.Check if the element rotates freely. If something interferes with it, the heat is distributed incorrectly.
Wash pump broken.

If the washing pump stops working, the water stops circulating in the system, therefore it does not heat up (at this moment the heater thermal fuse could have tripped).

The pump and fuse need to be replaced.

Control unit failure.

If the above breakdowns are not confirmed, then this may mean that the relay that controls the operation of the heating element has been broken.

Using an ohmmeter, measure the voltage at the heater connector as it heats up. At this point, the terminals should be producing 220 volts.

Voltage control needs to be carried out for a couple of minutes, because the heating element does not start immediately after being turned on; It takes time to diagnose a breakdown. If the failure is confirmed, the module needs to be replaced.

E40 – the temperature sensor circuits are broken

You will see this code when the PMM is on and the sensor is not working. The malfunction is rare if the operation of the dishwasher is correct. Failure often occurs as a result of previous repair work – maintenance of the wiring or replacement of the module, detergent cuvette.

To solve the problem yourself, try to apply our recommendations.

Cause of failureHow to fix
The integrity of the wires is broken.Check how secure the wiring of the element and its connection to the electronic board. If you find defective areas, carry out maintenance.
Broken thermistor.

Armed with a multimeter, measure the resistance of the thermostat – it should be at the level of 12 kOhm at a room temperature of 20 degrees.

If an open circuit is detected, this means a breakdown and the need for replacement.

The control unit does not receive signals from the thermistor. If the previous reasons were not confirmed, and the sensor readings do not reach the control unit, most likely the problem is in the electronic board itself. She needs to be changed.

E5 – dishwasher does not fill with water

This code usually comes on when filling the dishwasher with water, if the required level is not reached within a 7-minute period.

Possible problemsHow to fix
The valve on the water supply pipe is closed.Try opening a faucet.
Pinched or kinked inlet hose.

Check if the inlet hose in the PMM is not pinched. Also inspect the mesh filter on the machine body, at the hose inlet.

Straighten or install the hose correctly. Rinse the filter screen at the same time.

Broken contacts in the intake valve circuit.

Check the integrity of the connections of the inlet valve and the electronic board. Run the tester in ohmmeter mode to measure the resistance and check if the connections are good.

Finding damaged areas, provide them with repairs.

The water intake valve coil has broken.

It is necessary to check the coil with a tester.

If a break is detected, then the valve is broken and needs to be replaced with a similar one.

Block breakage.

If the wiring is good, take a tester to check the voltage at the solenoid valve.

When filling, the power supply of the part must be at the level of 220V. If there are no indicators, then the module needs to be changed.

E6 – drain is not performed

The alarm code “E6” lights up when draining, if the tank is not emptied within three minutes.

FailureTroubleshooting
Drain hose out of position.Check the correct installation of the hose – it may be pinched or kinked. Install the hose so that it is free.
Broken pressure switch. After draining the water from the PMM, measure with a tester how the level sensor switches. If a problem is found, change the pressure switch.
Drain pump broken.

Check the operation of the drain pump. You will need a tester to check the resistance at the connector where there should be no open circuits.

If the pump winding is broken, then the pump is broken and needs to be urgently reinstalled. Sometimes the pump stops draining at normal ohmmeter readings. Replace the pump if you cannot find the cause of the failure.

Violation of the integrity of the wiring going to the pump.Make sure that the connections (wires) of the part are in order. Check with a tester and repair damaged areas.
The control unit failed, ceasing to start the pump or receive signals from it.

Check with a tester whether the pump receives voltage from the side of the unit when draining – it should be 200V.

If the work of the part is not disturbed, but its signals do not reach the module that the tank is already empty, the electronic board may be broken.

Both cases require replacement of the block.

E9 – overflow

This code requires a complete check of the hydraulic system of the Gorenje dishwasher. Pay special attention to the situations listed in the table.

Cause of failureHow to fix
Water has leaked into the inlet hose.Eliminate in the same way as with code E2.
Water went into the pressure selection chamber from the pressure switch. It is necessary to change the pressure selection system to an analogue of the latest modification (it should have a yellow stamp on it).
Wash pump broken or clogged.

Run a wash cycle to check how evenly the water is supplied. It is possible that the pump hose is clogged.

You need to remove the blockage or replace the pump.

Important! In the electronic boards “Gorenie” for 3 and 5 buttons (the first generation of screens), the E9 code does not light up.

Now you know everything and even more about the mistakes of Gorenje brand dishwashers. You will be able to provide all possible first aid to the affected equipment and save on diagnostics when calling the master.
