Cultivation of the Kolobok gooseberry variety

Choose a sunny spot with moderately damp soil for your gooseberry bush. There should be no close groundwater at the landing site. Do not plant gooseberries where raspberries or currants used to grow.

The optimal time for planting is mid-September. The seedling hole should be 0,5 m deep and 0,5 m wide. Before planting, add manure, superphosphate, potassium sulfate to the pit. Place the seedling in the hole so that its root collar goes 7 cm into the ground. After planting, cut the seedling so that it remains about 6 cm above the ground. This will provoke active branching of the bush.

Cross-pollination will increase yields, so don’t plant Gingerbread Man alone

Caring for the gooseberry of this variety is standard – watering, loosening the earth, applying fertilizers. Only the pruning is different. It must be carried out annually. In the first year, almost everything should be cut, only a few buds should remain. In the second year, cut off any shoots shorter than 20 cm and any branches that are too close to the ground. Thin the crown in the third year. From the fourth year on, remove branches that are too close to the ground.
