Gone with the wind – stunning burning cocktail

Gone with the Wind is a sweet, easy-drinking velvety milky-coffee-flavored cocktail with a hint of citrus in the aftertaste, complemented by a memorable ignited serving. It is more considered a women’s drink, although many men are also partial to it.

Historical information

The author of the recipe, the time and place of the appearance of the Gone with the Wind cocktail are unknown. According to legend, the name of the drink was given in honor of the novel of the same name by the American writer Margaret Mitchell, which appeared in 1936 and became one of the most successful literary works in the history of the United States. But researchers of cocktail culture are skeptical about this version, since fans of the novel are unlikely to like such an extraordinary cocktail serving. Most likely, the author of the recipe simply used the promoted name to draw attention to his drink.

Composition and proportions:

  • orange liqueur Cointreau or Triple sec – 25 ml;
  • Blue Curacao liqueur – 25 ml;

1. Pour Kahlua into the center glass. Lay a layer of Cointreau on top. It is very important to pour the liqueurs in the specified order, they should not mix, because when ignited, Cointreau burns, but Kalua does not.

2. Pour Blue Curacao liqueur into one pile, cream of minimum fat content into another. Arrange the stacks on the sides of the glass.

Make sure that the tube does not start to melt in the burning liquor.

5. While drawing the contents through the straw, pour Blue Curacao and cream into the glass. Drink sharply to the bottom in one gulp, you can lightly mix the ingredients with a straw.
