The instructors of the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy started another season of first aid teacher training in Podkarpacie on Tuesday. Since 2006, 19,5 thousand people across the country have been trained in this field. teachers from over 10 schools.
This school year, teachers in Sanok and Alfredówka in the Tarnobrzeg poviat were trained as the first. On Wednesday, the training will be held in Rzeszów.
Instructors teach integrated teaching teachers how to give first aid. They, in turn, pass the knowledge to their pupils, preparing special lessons for them – said the spokesman of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, Krzysztof Dobies.
The action is part of the Ratujemy i Teachmy Ratować program, which the Jurek Owsiak Foundation has been running since 2006. Courses are run nationwide throughout the school year.
They are aimed at teachers of integrated education in primary schools. They are held over the course of one day for six hours.
Two teachers from 15-20 primary schools each take part in the training. After completing the training, they pass the exam and receive a certificate.
So far, since 2006, almost 19,5 thousand people have been trained as part of the campaign. teachers from over 10 schools. This means that the program covers over a million children.
In addition to practical skills, the organizers provide teachers and schools with all didactic materials for conducting lessons among students.
Dobies added that after the course, each facility receives free first aid equipment. These include phantoms, i.e. exercise dummies, manuals for students and teachers, and DVDs. Moreover, at the request of the schools, subsequent batches of textbooks for the next year of students are sent.
In 2006, the Foundation received the 2006 Medical Leader award and the title of the Friend of the School and a distinction for the Initiative of the Year.
The spokesman emphasized that the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity was in talks with the Ministry of National Education, trying to make first aid a compulsory subject in all types of schools in 2012.
Since January 2008, the Program Ratujemy i Uczymy Ratować has been under the honorary patronage of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Poland (PAP).
