Glucosamine is a dietary supplement used:

  1. as an aid in rheumatic diseases,
  2. as an aid in degenerative diseases (especially of the knees),
  3. as a prophylaxis to strengthen joints (especially in the elderly),
  4. in people who are actively involved in sports and suffer from joint discomfort as a result.

Dosage

Glucosamine is in the form of tablets and should be taken orally.

  1. 3 tablets / day for at least 6-8 weeks

Contraindications to the use of Glucosamine are:

  1. allergy to any ingredient of the preparation,
  2. disturbance of the heart’s conductive system,
  3. untreated or unresponsive heart failure.

Glucosamine – warnings

  3. Do not take the preparation in the first trimester of pregnancy.

  2. constipation or diarrhea
  3. flatulence, which is usually transient and not severe
  4. hypersensitivity reactions (skin itching, erythema, dyspnoea).
