Glomerulonephritis occurs after viral or bacterial infections of the throat, so e.g. after suffering from scarlet fever or chicken pox, it occurs after skin infections. The disease is the result of the body’s fight against streptococci, pneumococci, staphylococci, meningococci or the varicella virus. Find out about the most common causes, symptoms, and treatments.
Glomerulonephritis in children – causes of the disease
Children are a group particularly vulnerable to diseases resulting from the proliferation of various bacteria and viruses because their immune systems are not mature. Entire nursery and kindergarten groups often get sick, in such clusters it is very easy to spread the infection quickly. The occurrence of even one case of chickenpox disease makes it possible for all children who have not yet had the disease or have not been vaccinated against it to become infected with the virus. During the disease caused by their excessive presence, streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci, meningococci cause the accumulation of antigens of these bacteria in the glomeruli. When a foreign protein appears, many immune reactions occur in the child’s body that defend the body against an intruder, the process of producing a substance that could destroy it, resulting in inflammation. Glomerulonephritis is often asymptomatic and painless, it resolves on its own, many parents do not even know that the child has had this disease.
Glomerulonephritis – treatment
After the diagnosis of pharyngitis, scarlet fever or chickenpox, the doctor usually recommends a urine test a week or two after the infection. Sometimes glomerulonephritis is more severe, then you may notice some of the following symptoms:
- foaming urine
- unusual color of urine: pink, red, brown,
- kidney pain
- loss of appetite
- stomach problems,
- swelling of the face and feet
- problems urinating,
- symptoms of high blood pressure,
- fever.
Antibiotics must be given to fight the infection that led to glomerulonephritis. The disease process must be stopped as soon as possible. The patient is also given diuretics and medications to lower blood pressure. Glomerulonephritis – the diet should be easy to digest, without excess salt and protein. The patient should limit physical activity, it is recommended to stay in bed, rest and regular urine and blood tests. Unfortunately, this disease cannot be prevented earlier.
The work of the renal glomeruli is supported, among others, by Cleansing the body – Pharmovit drops extract. It is worth reaching for this supplement in case of problems with detoxification of the body.
Glomerulonephritis and kidney failure
Infected glomeruli undergo fibrosis and stop working properly. A large amount of damaged glomeruli leads to acute or transient inflammation of the kidneys, or sometimes chronic, lasting for years, with renal failure. In order to diagnose renal failure, tests to assess the level of creatinine and urea as well as tests to determine the level of sodium, potassium and glucose should be performed. Usually, the patient is referred for an ultrasound examination of the kidneys in order to exclude the coexistence of other diseases of these organs. In extreme cases, only dialysis therapy, which consists in extracorporeal removal of toxins and metabolic products, can help.
Perform diagnostic tests for kidney abnormalities. The Kidney Disease Diagnostics – blood and urine tests package is available on Medonet Market.
