At the largest international tasting competition “International Spirits Challenge 2002” Glenlivet brand was awarded the title of “Best Single Malt Whiskey”. The production technology has remained the same, because experts rightly consider Glenlivet the standard that all producers of single malt whiskey must adhere to.
How to drink. Mandatory taste qualities of the drink are softness and balance, a slight shade of flowers and fruits, a feeling of sweetness of honey and vanilla. Glenlivet is best consumed at room temperature, in small sips neat or diluted 50/50 with water.
Historical reference. At the beginning of the XNUMXth century, George Smith in one of the regions of Scotland in the Spey River Valley – Speyside – organized a small distillery, where a couple of years later he began to produce Glenlivet Scottish Scotch. At first, the drink was produced without a trademark, which led to the flourishing of fakes. The consequences were deplorable – financial losses and deterioration of reputation.
In 1884, George Smith’s son decided to trademark “Glenlivet”. It was from this year that the development of the brand officially started. It is noteworthy that Glenlivet became the only distillery of 200 in the country, which began to operate legally.
The legal component in the company’s activities is important, but without a unique recipe, Scottish scotch would not have become so popular. So, Glenlivet single malt whiskey:
- Produced using crystal clear water from the Josi spring;
- distilled through special copper cubes of its own design;
- aged in oak barrels of different sizes, which gives the drink a special taste.
