Glen Turner

Glen Turner (Glen Turner) is a young whiskey brand owned by La Martiniquaise, the second largest French alcohol producer after Pernod Ricard. The distillery is located in the Scottish Highlands region and has been operating since 2008. At first, the company had to buy spirits from other manufacturers, but over time, the company has more and more opportunities to produce releases with a respectable age.

Historical information

The French company La Martiniquaise was founded in 1934 by Jean Cayard to produce rum. Over the following years, the company expanded its scope of interests and began to trade in cognac, Calvados, Madeira and sweet wines. In 1956, the Porto Cruz brand of Spanish port wine was launched, which topped the popularity ratings and became the company’s flagship product.

On the wave of success, the company decided to include Scotch whiskey in its range. Production of Label 5 began in 1969, and soon the brand entered the top ten best scotch tapes in the world. By the 80s, sales had grown so much that the company had to create Glen Turner Blending, which began to represent the brand.

In 2008, a modern industrial complex was built in the city of Bathgate near Edinburgh, designed to produce 25 million liters of spirits per year. The company was named Glen Turner Distillery. On the territory of 75 hectares there is a grain processing plant, bottling shops and warehouses for aging. The company produces spirits for the Label 5 blend and Glen Turner single malt whiskey.

Production features

The production uses water from a high-mountain source, which is located near the enterprise. The plant’s equipment is designed in such a way that it can distill two types of spirits – for vodka and for whiskey.

Glen Turner is made from malted barley, which is made in-house. Bourbon, port and rum barrels are used for aging. The most titled product in the line is Glen Turner Heritage with a 4-year maturation period.
