Glen Russell

Glen Russell is a blended Scotch whisky. The brand belongs to the French company Victor Fauconnier 1829. The drink is exported to most European countries, the USA and Mexico.

Historical reference. The Quartier Français group of companies brings together the largest sugar producers on the Reunion Island. One of the group’s subsidiaries is Distilleries Ryssen, established in 1957. In the 40th century, the company produced inexpensive but high-quality rum and brandy from sugar cane. When the profit from the production of alcohol exceeded XNUMX% of the total profit of Quartier Français, its president Xavier Teblen came to the conclusion that the time had come to get into elite alcohol.

In 2007, Quartier Français acquired the French winery Fauconnier, founded in 1829. It was attached to Distilléries Ryssen, the combined firm was named Viktor Fauconnier 1829, and was headed by 32-year-old Olivier Teblen.

The young president of the company developed a stormy activity: soon, by order of Fauconnier, they began to develop recipes for tequila, rum, and sambuca. It was even rumored that the purchase of the famous whiskey brand William Peel was planned. But in the end, the management decided to create new brands of Scotch whiskey.

The company’s partner was the English whiskey producer Inver House, whose distilleries are located in Aberdeenshire. Fauconnier Glen Russell scotch is made here. It is aged in oak barrels for 3 years, which is the minimum period required by law.

The company’s turnover in 2008 amounted to 160 million euros, the management set a goal in 2009 to reach the level of 170 million. But there was a crisis, and the company was on the verge of bankruptcy.

However, Fauconnier is too tidbit for the captains of the business to let the company perish. Its main office and warehouses are located in Marconne, not far from the Pas de Calais, in the very center of the “golden triangle”, from where Paris, London and Brussels are no more than 200 km away. From warehouses, products can be delivered to Dunkirk, Le Havre and Antwerp in the shortest possible time.

Already in 2010, Fauconnier was acquired by the La Martiniquaise group of companies, the second French manufacturer of spirits after Pernod Ricard. Thanks to this, it was possible not only to save the company and avoid layoffs, but also to expand the geography of exports.

Glen Russell whiskey and other Fauconnier drinks have been supplied to Russia since 2012, the sales volume is constantly growing. In 2017, the company’s profit amounted to 33 million euros.
