Glass jar decoupage: master class. Video

You can make bright and elegant jars that you will not be ashamed to put on open shelves at home or in the country with your own hands. Using the decoupage technique, even a novice master is able to create an original product from simple and affordable materials.

You will need: – a glass jar; – napkins with a pattern; – acrylic varnish; – acrylic paints; – a contour; – a brush; – a foam sponge.

Wash and dry a regular glass jar with a screw cap. Wipe the outside with an alcohol-based cotton pad.

Using a foam sponge or a wide brush, paint the outside of the can with white acrylic paint. When it’s completely dry, look through the can to make sure the paint is evenly applied. Paint the bottom of the glass jar and the outside of the screw cap.

While the paint is drying, prepare the colored fragments from the napkin with which you will decorate the jar and lid. Cut with scissors or pull out the ornament you like with your hands. Separate the thin paper layers. For further work, you only need a paint layer.

Apply the pieces, one at a time, to the sides of the glass jar and carefully coat them with acrylic varnish. Run with a soft brush from the middle to the edges of the design so that there are no wrinkles. Don’t forget to design the screw cap.

After the varnish has dried, decorate each piece with a matching outline. You can outline its outline by extruding the outline with a solid line or by drawing it in separate points.

When preparing several types of jam for the winter, you can arrange the jars with the corresponding drawings with fruits or berries.

Decorating a tin can using decoupage technique

Materials for work: – tin can; – one-step craquelure varnish; – napkins; – acrylic paints and varnish; – brush.

For decoration, a can of coffee or tea is suitable for you. Paint the entire outer surface of the can dark and dry. It is this color that will be visible in the background cracks.

Apply one-step craquelure varnish. Do this with a wide brush or a piece of foam rubber in one direction, without overlapping strokes. Allow the surface to dry, referring to the instructions from the varnish manufacturer.

Choose a contrasting color for the jar. Mix white paint and some ocher to maintain the aging effect. Cover the entire can with a top coat of paint. Apply it with a brush in one direction. The thicker the outer layer is, the larger and coarser the cracks will be.

Keep in mind that the picture from the napkin is almost transparent. The background for her should be light so that she does not get lost.

Prepare napkin motifs. After peeling off the top color layer, glue it to the tin can using acrylic varnish. Then cover the entire jar with two coats of varnish and dry it. It is now ready to use.
