One of the most stylish and sophisticated design elements is the glass floor. The use of glass in the design of the room provides a bright play of colors, creates a feeling of airiness and lightness. Combined with directional lighting, a glass floor is a very attractive design solution. In order for a glass floor to always be pleasing to the eye, it must be properly looked after.
There are several ways to decorate the floor with glass elements. Very often, a kind of glass “ribbons” are used, which are thick sheets of transparent material located along the walls of the room. In this case, a special illumination looks good, which becomes an additional element of room lighting. It is advisable to clean the backlit floor as often as possible.
Glass tapes are widely used not only in residential premises, but also in shops
A very original solution can be the creation of a glass niche, which is essentially a recess of a certain shape. A recess is cut into the floor surface and covered with thick glass. The internal space of a niche is often filled with various decorative elements. Several of these “islands” give the room a unique look.
In houses with several levels, glass elements mounted in stair steps, as well as transitional decorative bridges made of laminated glass, have been used. Such glass structures in the design of staircase passages create a feeling of airiness and spaciousness.
The traditional use of glass in floor design is the laying of glass elements over the entire area. At the same time, the floor remains strong, withstanding relatively heavy loads. Large glass areas require, of course, more careful maintenance.
Care of glass floors is largely determined by their type and design features. As a rule, such a floor consists of a metal frame, into which special elements made of tempered glass, subjected to special processing, are mounted.
Treated glass not only becomes durable, but also becomes resistant to chemicals
Cleaning the glass floor and removing dirt from it should be done using special products designed for the care of other glass and mirror surfaces. In the simplest case, a weak soapy solution is used.
It is strongly not recommended to clean such a floor with materials and products that have an abrasive structure. After such treatment, clearly visible scratches remain on the glass, which can only be removed by professional polishing. Lint-free soft fabrics and a soft sponge are best suited for caring for floor glass.
When processing glass floors, avoid getting moisture into the joints between the metal frame and the glass coverings. The fact is that with very prolonged contact with water, even stainless steel parts can corrode. Therefore, after each wet cleaning, thoroughly and dry wipe the glass floor surface with a dry cloth. This gentle care will prolong the life of your floor for a long time.
