Planting gladioli in spring
For flowers, choose the most luminous area. But it is desirable that the place be protected from drafts. As for the soil, the culture prefers light sandy loam or loamy soil. Prepare the site before planting. To do this, dig up the soil and apply the following fertilizers for each square meter:
- superphosphate – 15 g;
- ammonium nitrate – 15 g;
- potassium sulfide – 30 g.
It is advisable to add wood ash to the soil. For plants, holes are dug, the size of which depends on the diameter of the bulbs. So, large tubers are buried by 10-15 cm, and small ones – by 8-10 cm. Keep a distance of 10 cm between each plant, and 25 cm between rows.
Be sure to soak the bulbs in the garlic solution for two hours before sedimenting. And also treat them with potassium permanganate. Landing in this way:
- Put some sand on the bottom of the groove.
- Moisten the soil and plant the bulbs.
- Sprinkle the tubers with loose soil and mulch the surface with a layer of peat.
As a rule, sprouts will germinate within 1-2 weeks after planting. Before they appear, you should not moisten the soil. In the future, young plants need to be provided with normal care.
Growing gladioli on your site is not so difficult. Give the plants a little of your attention, and they will surely take root and delight you with friendly flowering throughout the summer.
