Spicy and rich in essential oils, ginger root is popular in cuisines around the world. Thanks to its tonic effect, it is used as a remedy for colds or for weight loss. It is very beneficial as it contains vitamins A and C.
There are many recipes for ginger tea, and the easiest one is to infuse the root with the addition of something sweet, like honey. The exact dosage can vary, as everyone prefers a drink of varying strengths. Usual proportions: 1 tsp. ginger powder or 3-4 slices of ginger root in a glass of boiling water. To make the drink even tastier, you can add citric acid or freshly squeezed lemon juice to it.
Ginger powder gives a cloudy tea, but the root tincture is a clear yellowish liquid. Its taste is brighter than when brewed with powder.
This easy-to-make tea is an excellent remedy for strengthening the immune system during dank and cold seasons. It helps with coughing, invigorates and promotes the removal of excess mucus from the bronchi. In India, ginger tea is believed to cure bad mood and depression. In winter, it is one of the most popular drinks in the entire country, and adherents of Vedic culture do not like it at all.
To make green tea with ginger you will need:
– a small root of ginger (about 4 cm); – 2 pods of cardamom; – half a lemon; – 1 tsp unflavored green tea; – honey; – cinnamon; – Carnation.
Brew green tea in 0,5 liters of boiling water, wait 5 minutes, then strain. Pour the liquid without cooking into a small saucepan, add all the spices and grated ginger root, bring the mixture to a boil. For about 20 minutes, the drink should boil with ginger over low heat. Add the lemon by squeezing the juice out of it in a saucepan. Leave the tea on the fire for another 5 minutes, then add honey. You can drink it both hot and cold.
Ginger tea for weight loss
Ginger tea is good for those looking to lose weight. It improves metabolism, contributing to faster fat burning. The drink further stimulates the digestive system, but if you drink it before meals, it helps you feel full earlier than usual. Adding a clove of garlic to a liter of ginger tea will further enhance its slimming effect. It is not recommended to drink more than 2 liters of ginger tea for weight loss per day.
Despite its benefits, ginger tea has a number of contraindications:
– inflammatory skin diseases (possibly exacerbation); – heat; – stomach ulcer, – internal bleeding.
Ginger has a tonic effect and improves blood circulation. In all situations where these consequences are undesirable, it is not recommended to make drinks with it and add it to food.
