History of the Gin Fizz Cocktail
The famous cocktail made in 1888 by the famous bartender of the time, Henry Ramos, who ran his own bar, the Imperial Cabinet Saloon, in New Orleans.
The original name of the drink is New Orlean Fizz.
The cocktail was very popular in the United States until prohibition was introduced in 1920.
The owners of the bar even hired special people who were engaged only in shaking shakers with ice, which made it possible to save time on preparing a cocktail – it took up to 15 minutes for one serving.
The cocktail recipe was simplified over time, since it was quite expensive to maintain a large number of such people, and due to the long preparation time, the cocktail began to disappear from the menu of bars and restaurants.
Only after the advent of electric blenders did it regain popularity, but professional bartenders prepare it by hand – they assure that the taste of the cocktail becomes completely different.
Cocktail variations Gin Fizz
Silver Fizz – egg white is added to the original recipe.
Golden Fizz – Egg yolk is added to the original recipe.
Royal Fizz – A whole egg is added to the cocktail.
